How Safe

hey guys just a quick question:

How safe do you think a 01 Lightning with a 4# or JL5# lowerpulley Predator and Zex 100shot would be ?? Would I be pushing it to run the 100shot ? Right now I only have a Magnaflow Cat Back and JL Ram Air, but I'm lookin for options for when the warranty goes. How much safer would a 75shot be over the 100 ? I was planning on gettin a FTVB, 4x4pan, Traction Bars, Line Lock, and IT-22's....and maybe an E-fan and cobra pump....with those mods plus a the above 4-5# and nitrous what kinda e/t should I be looking at ?? I wanna try to stay safe as my L is my daily driver, would I really be pushin the limits and testing to see a custom block vent ? If so what should I set my limits too ?? Thanks in advance

Josh

I'd say with the 100 shot you would be looking at the very low 12's with some traction devices maybe high 11's How safe I guess It depends on the tune!. Jim

Looks like you are a JLP Customer, so I would talk to Johnny and let you know what you want. Myself I am starting to get a little scared about those preditors, I personally know 3 trucks who blew up with it. Hopefully Diablo will get these problems figured out soon. You might be better off with a flip chip, with a street and race program on it. I would also talk to Rob since he is a JLP customer and runs the juice.

If it was my truck I would go with a flip chip, a 6# lower, a heat exchanger, long tubes(from whatever tuner you want), a JDM electric fan, a cobra water pump and a cat back exhaust.

Personally I think 100 HP is a bit much on a stock Motor,
but I'm prob gonna try it this year anyway

I also think I'm eventually gonna go for the Eaton Mod,
and back down my Nitrous Runs back to 4lbs and not 6lbs.

Josh,
they've all heard it a million times so I'll give the short story

Stock motor 02L
JLP Filter/JLP Program's/4Lb Lower Pulley/Multi Spark Box/
and Accu-Fab T/B. (no tranny, suspension, exhuast, or cooling Mods)

Best ET before the juice was 12.7's
First time out with a Zex Wet System+ 65HP jets= (2) 12.0's
Made many more passes during the summer trying out some diff combo's and was only running 12.2's 3's, + 5's.
I then went back to what I originally had, added 2lbs of boost, and 10 more HP, making my set up, 6lbs + 75HP of Juice, first time out on that set up = 11.81 @ 113.98 MPH

I have more in it no prob, but where else can I go without bringing it home in a box ? If I can run backed up 12.0's with 4lbs plus 65 HP, I can run 11's with 4lbs + 75HP. I'd feel safer spraying with only 4lbs on my stock block, Plus I'm doing some traction and light tranny tweaking right now which MAY help.
Either way I'll spray some more w/ 6lbs and get some more 11's, but ""if"" I do go past 75HP of Juice, it will be on 4lbs only

11.81 @113.9 MPH W/6lb’s + 75 HP of Juice 1.6 60ft 7.52 1/8 @91.56 MPH

O.k. Thanks Rob....I know your the Nitrous Ronbo of F-150Online. I was just toying with a couple of ways to go....I basically wanna be able to still drive my truck everyday, but bust up on a couple ****y ZO6 drivers. I only have the JL Ram Air like you, but I do have my Magnaflow Catback and I dunno if its my imagination or not, but the truck feels alot faster at the top end. I was thinking of goin with a Predator with custom file, and at least a 4#pulley.....but I saw that JL also sells that 5#er, and the extra pound couldnt be too bad to have. I Like the way your Zex system looks and have seen all the notes on how easy it was to install and whatnot. I saw your videos and with that crazy launch you still ran the 11.81...makes me a believer in Nitrous when it comes to the bang for dollar. Makes me wonder what that same combo with a set of Efans and Cobra Pump, Non-Truk Traks traction bars, and FTVB and deep pan could do.

How much difference does the Ignition booster make...and did you upgrade your fuel pump for the juice ??

My fuel system is stock
and as for the Plasma Booster (here comes the Jokes)
As much as it didn't turn out to be the next big mod,
the fact is that Multi Spark was always a proven performance product, not so much for added power, but instead a way to have a more efficient burn in the cylinders. Since Detonation and heat is a killer for us, I simply used logic, what is it that takes the heat out of our cylinders??? -->Spark<-- So if I use two zones colder plugs, and use a Multi Spark System, then I should be removing more heat than the next guy ????
Don't know if it works out like that on paper, but in my mind it does

That 5lb'r would be perfect, I'd go for it, schitt I'm still running 6lbs right now 24/7 (I usually take 2lbs off for winter)
There's nothing like boost. And BTW all my 12.7's and 12.8's wish were made on all gasoline are on 4lbs and no juice, AND THAT WAS DONE WITH MY OLD GAS PROGRAM, my new one is way more aggresive.

Point is, you can have an easy 12.5/12.6 Lightning OFF THE JUICE,
with your mods along with that 5lb's + Chip/Predator.
You'll whoop plenty butt with that, then on the juice, wam 11sec runs. And lets not forget, we can, AND I DO use the juice on the street for an ocassional special whopping, like a Z06
