JE pistons??

I'm picking up a set of ported heads, cams and a set of JE pistons tomorrow and I was wondering if someone had experience with JE pistons in our motors? I really don't want piston slap so if there is something wrong with them please let me know.
Thanks Mike

I think JDM uses this piston in there built motors........
I have only heard good things about them!!!!
and I am pretty sure that they are quiet also!!! maybe a litlle noise on startup but thats it.......

I don't have any experience using JE's in 5.4 modulars - but I can tell you that JE's are a long time - 30+ years piston manufacturer for racing engines with a reputation for a high quality product.

I've always used the JE's in my stuff and never had any problems.
I tried the CP's last year in my lightning motor and I lost the ring lands out of them, they were not designed for a supercharged motor IMHO. So now I'm back to JE's

I believe JDM uses Probe pistons in their motors. I know JE has always had an excellent reputation, but the tuners all seem to lean toward CP(JLP/PSP) or Probe(JDM) for some reason.

There is evidently a difference in the way a modular motor is set up(in reference to piston/cylinder wall clearances) versus a pushrod motor, but I'm not sure of the exact details. Maybe someone here can chime in....

Thanks for the replies. I should be okay then. I'm also going with a standard bore instead of boring it so hopefully the tolerances will be even better.

Thanks Mike

If you get the skirt clearance right you shouldn't have any problems with piston slap. Forged pistons with high silicone content will be a little quieter (Probe) but aren't as strong. The last set of JE pistons I used needed to be glass peened before install (probably a good idea for any piston), just make sure to cover the ring lands first.
