Yes, nearly everyone. Definitely will break an engine on 91 octane with the pulley tune. Makes NO sense to me to take as long as they did to get this product out and have a guaranteed engine killer tune in the pulley tune which is what most guys are going to plug in. How about being a little conservative and let the individual owner be responsible for turning up the timing "at his own risk". The 93 octane guys (some of them) are also having pinging with that program. I loaded it up last night and also have pinging. Sal at PSP recommends getting a custom tune immediately, which is my opinion also. Then you have a safe base to work with and can tweak from there.

Nice deal overall, wish it was a little more adjustable though. Not necessarily a higher percentage of change for fuel and timing, but just being able to put it where you want it; if you're a little fat up top, when you lean out the fuel it leans it everywhere, not just up top. Would have been nice to pick the areas by rpm to change.

With the correct custom tune though that would be a non-issue.

But can someone explain to me why Diablo would put a tune in that WILL hurt the engine on MOST of the Lightnings out there? They're just asking to get sued.

It's not like they rushed this thing to market!

Can you use the Diablo to + - fuel/timing on the STOCK TUNE? As in factory tune.

I believe so. According to their manual the factory tune must be modified in order to allow install.

Diablo has agressive tunes to post big #'s. It's good advertising...can't fault them for that, but they could put a min ocatane rating for the program, that would be nice.

Everyone is posting about the tune being agressive, but nobody seems to know any numbers.

Have any of you gotten an A/F reading to go with a Max timing at WOT reading?

Have any of you done any dyno time with the new tune?

I think I am seeing why the chip makers have been a bit hesitant to allow self tuning.

Please do post your numbers, if ya have any. One without the other is a waste of bandwidth....so no need to post that.

I'm running the pulley tune with 91 octane gas, no problem. However, I'm at 5,000 + altitude, and 91 works like 93 here. The pulley tune does seem aggressive, I saw 19 degrees of spark advance at the top of second gear, when the air temp was 44. Just starting to play with it. A powerful tool, no doubt.

quiksilver,

Did you happen to get the A/F ratio on that? My S.C. race side Maxes at 21 with a 12/1 A/F. My street side is at 17 with 11.9/1.

I have the predator but have not had a chance to get to the dyno to install it yet. I don't believe I am going to slap it on and go cruising with it, untill I can verify what it is doing.

Thanks,

Rocks

Well I got back from the Dyno Jet and here are the #'s

First pull with no Predator 356hp/425tq at 12.3af.

2nd pull with Performance tune 369hp/438tq 12.7af avg inc 10.1hp/11.6tq over stock. The data log sowed 19 deg timing

3rd pull with Pulley tune 369hp/441tq 12.3af avg inc 13.2hp/15.1tq over stock. The data log showed 25 deg timing?

I think I need to get a custom tune and make changes on the dyno. I did not make any changes in the programs on run 2 and 3. All runs were with 100 octane.

There was a 2003 Lightning there and it was totally stock. It put down 350/420

i dont understand how this is a waste of bandwidth

i simply asked if any one else has any issues with these tunes... i dont need a dyno to tell me that I have AUDIBLE detonation.... in fact why would you dyno anything that is pinging?

no more a waste of bandwidth that the avarage "what do you do for a living" poll around here

thanks for your concern though
