Important Plug Advice Needed....

I just had a long conversation with the shop that works on all my cars re: the plugs and he ended up quoting me $150/plug for an insert (includes insert and labor).

He said he'S done them a few times on other 5.4s and that they are really labor intensive.

Since just about everyone who has blown a plug has blown one of the two on either side of the motor closes to the firewall, should I just do the last 4 or should I do all of them?

Is $150/plug too much?

I'd rather take preventive measures and pay a little up front than risk major damage down the line.

Thanks.

$150.00 per plug? If so, tell him to take a hike. You can buy the repair kit and inserts for all eight holes for about $200.00. Maybe I didn't read your post right but that is the most rediculous price I have ever heard. If it's $150.00 for all eight, then that is a good deal. Get all eight done at that price.

You read correctly....$150 PER PLUG.

Sal (of PSP fame) posted that the "timeserts" are fantastic, and someone else posted that there are kits out there that dont require pulling the heads. (I don't remember if the timeserts allow for that or not)

Time to learn. Go here http://www.timesert.com/bigsert-repair.html

It isn't that hard at all. I am in the middle of fixing my plug holes. I bought a Chilton's manual and started to tear my heads off. After I got the lower intake off, I realized I had plenty of room to install the inserts. Some owners do the repair with the intake still on. Good luck.
