Serious race trucks need to lose the blower

and get a turbo

X2C replaced the eaton on their Cobra and has supposedly run 8.9@155 with a T-88.

Them's KB spankin' numbers!

That kinda power should make for an easy 9 second Lightning.

Thought everyone knew that turbos were more efficient and make more power that superchargers

could the turbo be plumbed to fit inside the gutted eaton, as to not void my warranty?

HAH!

... actually, Apten is coming out with a twin screw setup to replace your stock rotors, keeping the stock look - for whatever reason you'd want the "stock look"

The problem with turbos is the lag. For a pure race truck you may be better off, but I can garentee the KB is a lot more satisfying on the street in a 4800 lb truck.

Can't ignore the fact that the Cobra set up can handle that type of pressure and heat right out of the factory. Our rods would have an extremely difficult time getting into that type of load. You would be talking rebuilt lower right off the start.

A T88 is huge and requires big rpms to breathe. The turbo harley in Tampa has a T72 and he had to use nitrous to get the thing to spool. The T88 may not be the best for a daily driver but its certainly streetable, and if the heads flowed well and the appropriate cams were used that thing would be an animal. I beleive the T88 can support 1300hp.

Thumbs down

I'm somewhat of a purist (sp?) If a gen 2 lightning uses a turbo instead of the blower. It no longer appeals to me. Cause at that point it's just a step side F150 race truck to me. That's cool and all. But it just does'nt *relate* to me and my wallet anymore.

Just my 2 cents, Rich

We thought about going turbo over the winter but decided to take another (very different) route. We'll see how well she does come April.

I'm sticking with the S/C. If I want my turbo fix I just jump in my Buick
