Installed JLP's forced air -- concerns

I installed JLP's forced air induction system over the weekend.. I have a couple of concerns:

1) The air sensor that formerly hooked into the side of the stock air box now gets pushed through a rubber grommit in the JLP box. Because I wasn't able to push it all the way in far enough to have the "ears" on the plug catch, I feel like it could eventually work it's way out. Did I really just not get it pushed through enough? Has anyone had their sensor fall out?

2) I read another thread about the concerns of the sensor getting "gummed" up because it now lives OUTSIDE of the filter, rather than behind it. The thread never really got anywere. Has anyone experienced problems with this?

3) I ditched the rubber gasket between the MAF and the JLP box... it was just too big of a pain to try to get it to line up. Was that a bad idea? If so, any suggested alternatives?

Thanks!

Mine never backed out, but I really didnt like the setup either... Seems to still work fine. I REALLY had to jam it in there to get it to feel like it was in enough to get readings.

Never had a problem. That sensor you're talking about lives after the filter, so I guess it could get a bit gummed up from K&N oil, but mine never looked cleaner.

I reused mine. Hell of a pain lining it up, but if you use some rubber cement on one side, then stick it to the adaptop plate, should werk just fine. I didn't have any rubber cement at the time to do this, but it would have made life much easier.

The sensor will be fine in that location. Just stick it in there as far as you can and it'll be no problem. You don't need to use the rubber gasket between the maf and box. No worries.

Don't mean to hi-jack your thread, Don't want to start a new thread. Just wondering if anyone had problems with water getting to the filter with this setup while driving in the rain. Or more bugs, ect.....

Thanks,

Ryan

Nope No water probs. Just dont drive through 6" of water or more.

...just leaves, dirt, cigarette butts and the likes get sucked up to the filter area.

I use Sal's And all last summer they were removing our street and putting in a new one, Super fine chat, Made a mess of the filter and airbox

Took the cone off, and dunked it in a bucked of Dawn and warm water for about 20 minutes and rinsed.

I couldnt believe how much crap came out of that filter!! I put it back on and ran a 8.50 quarter.

Okay not an 8.50 quarter but man was that water dirty! I am going to make cone filter cleaning a routine thing!!

i think im gonna put a screen or something over my scoop just to help keep some of the stuff from getting in
and as far as water goes you dont have to worry because there is no suction in the scoop part to suck up the water so as long as your filter isnt underwater your ok

I think a screen and paint the scoop and it would look good.

I made a new gasket. Took some gasket mat'l, cut out hole to match air box, mount MAF, trimmed gasket with razor knife to fit outer edge of MAF.

PS: They were throwing away Stainless Steel perforated panels where I work today. Saved a couple of them to make a cover for scoop sometime.....
