REM Longtubes

Well i have some money floating around and i was wondering if longtubes are really worth the money. My truck Perf Mods are

4lb pully
ported T/B
ported Plenum
2 cats removed......Would longtubes be worth the $1300 ? ?

long tubes are usually for higher boost applications as far as i know. i mean you would get better sound for sure. but if you want them for power...wait till you run more boost.

Go with nitrous instead, and take the rest and start saving for a built motor.

I tested mine on back to back weekends(same hot weather) and picked up 2 tenths in the 1/8th with them; that's like 4 tenths in the 1/4 I got dynatech headers/cats though a magnaflow catback; long tubes rock IMO

My neighbor has the full Bassani, headers, H/F cats & CB on his 01 "L". He runs a 2lb upper and 4lb lower. It is one sweet sounding truck!!! The dynatech headers are on my list of things to do this year.

If you have any aspiration to build your L into a beast then I highly recommend the REM Dynatech long tube, high flow cats and Magnaflow cat back set up!

I did and I haven't regretted one minute of making the decision to go this route. Other than having to get used to the roar out of those exhaust tips. I loss 1 lb due to the effeciency of the long tube application, but that's the goal.

I am running a KB and too many mods to list, but I have seen other L's with similar mods minus the longtubes and their hp output has been 15 to 20 less than mine, minimum. I certainly agree with the above statement, the long tubes are ideal for high boost applications. I am at 16 lbs currently, but plan a lower in the future and much higher boost application.

Good Luck in your decision!

D-Day

i would look at nitrous or bigger pullies for more hp. You can only go so far with bolt ons...and really the big power adders are pullies, better superchargers, nitro and tuning.. But really if I were you I would keep that in the bank and save for a motor. Long tubes don't add anything if much to stock heads. Our stock heads don't have enough flow.everyone i talk to lose power. jdm used to have...not sure now...dyno numbers of i believe of 23- 30 rwhp but those aren't accurate.. I used to have dyno numbers until my email account got cleared out. I added high flow cats to my silver bullet, wich is pretty much straight through and lossed about 20 rwtq. LT's will sound good though. I would wait for a motor with ported heads . Just my oppinion. Usually Longtubes are longtubes. Some are welded better or bent better. but i don't think usually the difference is great. only my oppinion. it's a bunch of metal tubing that directs air.
