C10 is unleaded fuel. The motor octane level is 96 and the research octane level is 100.

So which octane do you go by? Motor or research?

That's what I was afraid someone was going to say.

I just bought a 55 gallon drum of race fuel. I told the guy I wanted 104. So I get the drum of fuel and notice it is labeled Tech101. I pull it up on the net and the data on it says research 104....motor 101.

Oh well, live and learn. At least it is over 100 octane.

I wonder how many guys pull up at the track fuel points and get something less than what they are thinking?

Thanks for the info,

Rocks

Depends on the application. If the motor is going to be under a heavy load (ie racing) you want to look at the motor octane level. If its going to be under a light to moderate load (ie street driving) then you want to look at the research octane level.

Does 21 degree at WOT with a 12.1 A/F sound like a good reason to want 104...LOL.

I run it at the track alot...that was why I told this ***** Wad I wanted 104. It ticks me off when some darned vender decides whats best for you without consulting with you about it.

Oh well, I'll know better next time.

From reading the link above, I come up with a slightly different answer.

It looks as though we should actually be concerned with the Anti Knock rating which is gotten to by taking the average of the research octane number and the motor octane number.

Check out the link...it explains it better.
