Flirting with 18lbs
Flirting with 18lbs
Outside temp guage read 58 degrees last night.............
Hands down I now know what all the northern L brothers are talking about regarding how our S/C 5.4's love the cool weather.
Most importantly last night I hit 18lbs on the Lunar boost gauge, I am set up for 16lbs. At first I thought the gauge was malfunctioning, but I am told that the cooler temps actually improve boost, but TWO POUNDS?
Is this a fact or do I have a mis read? Suggestions please, I certainly do not want the second boom on an '03 on this board!

Cold dense air will surely enhance the power, and yes I believe your boost gauge was acurate. I know that several others have seen between 1 and 2 #'s of boost depending on what type of open air element they were running.
I ran the Airforce 1 on mine, and I can tell you factually that in 40 degree weather I saw a jump from 16 up to 18 pounds on my Autometer gauge. ( I was running the 6 # lower, and 1# upper)
Lift your foot on those cool evenings.

Dan, I was pullied for 18lbs at the track but I was seeing 20lbs even in 80-90 degree heat. It must be because I don't have headers or free flowing cats to bring my boost back down like most of you guys.
I have a video of my truck on the dyno and you can see the lunar gauge hit 20lbs.

Learn something new everyday!
First I had to learn how to feather her out of the hole (still learning actually with this cold weather) now I have to learn how to lighten it up on the top. Who ever said driving a high hp engine married to an automatic was easy - hasn't owned one. Never a dull moment being an L owner, but you gotta love it!
Thanks guys!
