Question Winter Rims

Winter is almost here and Iv been trying to look for some normal F150 rims to go on my truck. My dad knows a guy at the junk yard and asked if he would look to see if he had any rims. I keep telling my dad that alot of people put normal F-150 rims on there L for the winter, but he thinks it wont work because of the break calipers. So I need help.

Will these rims fit a L without problem? Also, does anybody know of other rims I could look for that will fit my truck? And what is a good place to get cheap winter tires?

Save yourself some $$$.

get some normal f-150 16x7 rims with 5 x 135mm setup. They work beautifully. I have these on my truck as I write this. They clear the calipers without any problem. I am using a 255/70/16 Bridgestone Winter Dueler tire and they are just awesome!

THE F-150 WHEELS WORK GREAT..YOU NEED THE 14MM LUGS FOR REGULAR F-150 TO HOLD THE CAPS ON..A LOT OF THE OLD F-150'S USE 12MM LUGS AND CAPS..

Stockers work fine. F1's are alright in the snow... no need changing them. I have run every winter since '99 with them and they are excellent.

Those are all chrome or polished. Why do that for the winter?

Have you tried looking for the silver painted steel wheels?

They would probably be much cheaper.
You don't need to look good in the winter, do you?

I ended up with the standard chrome F150 wheels. I would have had to pay 45 each for steel wheels and then buy tires. I bought these wheels with tires for 500 shipped. First set looked ok, cause it had tires too. Other than that you might do better with steelies if your buying your own tires any way. Plus you want to look for wheels with 14 mm studs, NOT 12. Your 03 (like mine) has 14 mm and I dont know if 12's will fit. They changed in 00 or something like that. And before Id buy Id ask first. Plus if you want to run the center caps on the wheel youll need new lugs which are like 50 bucks

I am going to have to second 93cobra-300 pounds of sand over the rear axle is a lot cheaper than winter tire/wheel combo. I was on ice with this the other night. SORRY-NO BOOST THOUGH!!

First, to your truck!!! Those rims looks really nice with the L. As for rims, I don't care what I get as long as they fit and I get them soon. Our weekly rain is starting to turn into our weekly frozen stuff.

I do have 400 pounds of sand bags behind the axle. But still wouldn't hurt to get rims for smaller tires.
