It just keeps you from dumping boost if you rev too fast or hit the rev limiter while doing a burnout. There are no real performance gains that I know of other than not losing boost. I have never dumped boost with the bypass installed.

EVERYONE HAS ONE
or they simply unpluged the wire (you could've done that instead)

YOU NEED IT,
be thankful you didn't pay what some of us did 2 years ago
for a .50 cent vac tee, but at the time it was worth it's weight
in gold.

YOU WILL dump boost without it,
our system is designed that way.

NO IT WILL NOT HARM ANYTHING

Prove it.

I am probably one of three people on this board who hasnt disconnected the boost bypass.

I can see why you would disconnect it in a track situation, as you wouldnt want the truck to dump boost after doing and burnout, while you're sitting on the line.

However I believe that ford built it in as a safety feature, and did that for a reason. We all know how cheap ford is, and if it wasnt a good idea, no way it would be there.

My boost bypass remains fully funtional along with my factory pcm and ford's "tune"

And my block is still in one piece!

Woo slow down there cowboy
or is it a wallaby

J/K MISTERgadget, Ok maybe I can rephrase it to say
It hasn't harmed me and I'm running 6lbs of xtra pulley
plus 75HP of juice, all on a stock Motor + Tranny
and I'm still in one piece too

I guess things like Torque Reduction (Mines off)
Rev Limiters/Fuel Cut off (Mines no where to be found)
and Boost Dump (Of course I have mine bypassed)
Were put there for safety reasons. Ford is too cheap to even
put threads in a head, so yes I agree there are no UN NEEDED parts on the L and I'm sure it does relive boost and stress on the
motor and hence was put there for a reason.

Can I have a do over ???
Mines disconnected for over 10K, and I have no prob's

No problem rob, i just think people should see both sides to everything.

Your rods are begging for mercy right now though.

Ya Pal I know especially with 5700 - 6000 RPM shift points
I call it stretching my Rods (I laugh, buts it's really not funny)
It's truly only a matter of time and the L is still brand new
(12K) and it still looks and runs like brand new too.
I hope to add a few goodies over the winter, and tune it back to 4lbs
(plus Juice of course) and run some nice consistant 11's next yr, while HOPEFULLY keeping it together another season ???
ONLY TIME WILL TELL

gadget, parents don't like the idea of letting you throw some go fast parts on? :P boost bypass is fun for running from the cops. do 180's spinning then have instant boost when you let off some then hit it agian.

the only harm i see is if you bump the rev limiter hard enough it will cut fuel, then run super lean because it will not be able to dump boost. i have never had a problem dumping boost so i never even have disconnected it. imo, its there for a reason, and a safety reason at that so i left it alone. oh yea, i race a hell of a lot too lol.

its your truck scott, do what you want to it, if you have a problem with dumping boost then use the bypass kit. otherwise, there are no performance gains
