Gapping plugs???
Gapping plugs???
Okay, so i tried a search so I wouldnt sound stupid, but I guess I have to. What the he!! does it mean to gap plugs? Soon Im going to be changing my plugs to NGKs and hear all this talk about gapping plugs. Is it something I have to do, or are they fine they way I got them from my tuner? Can I and how do you do it? Guess Im just looking for a little plug gapping 101.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
the spark plugs have a small gap where they are not touching.
where the spark arcs. If i had a pic off hand I'd edit it up and show ya, but its that small space. if you gap close or make it larger you affect how well the crpa sparks/burns I suppose.

The gap is the space between the firing electrode and the metal portion of the plug across which the spark is created. You will need a gap gauge to set this distance. I just installed TR6's and gapped them to Ford's specs at 0.044". You just slide the gap gauge in the space and gently bend the metal portion out until you get the desired gap. Just make sure you do it gently so you don't destroy the tip or insulator coating
