Parking Brake

What is with the DVD players being connected to the Parking Brake. Is there anyway to bypass it so my passengers can watch movies while driving? I have an Eclipse AV3423 model. Also, when im driving, the screen dims now and then, then gets brighter, then dims again. Any thoughts on what that may be? Thanks for the replies and help.

on my pioneer you can just ground the wire that
goes to the parking brake ,that makes it work all the time.

Yes, you can bypass the parking brake by grounding out the wire that goes to the brake, I'm not positive where you need to ground it, on Pioneers you just ground it with the head unit ground wire, but you can find that info around, also check the stereo section on f150world....

As for the dimming, if you have subs you may just be using alot of current and causing some dimming.....either that or make sure it's not hooked up to you're dimming switch in the cab, it sounds dumb, but check it never the less....

Just ground the wire that should be hooked up to the parking brake to any ground. Its that easy. Also, dont know why it dims and brightens, but I know that mine is much dimmer when I first start my car when its cold outside. Hope this helps, good luck!

i'm having a hard time remembering, but i believe that the park brake switch is normaly open, so when the brake is aplied it ground the wire and turns on the park brake on light.

i haven't wired one of these up before, but i believe all you need to do is ground the wire(s) from the dvd player somewhere on the firewall (aka cowl)

edit: wow that was 4 fast responses, guess you didn't need my answer haha
