Vacuum / Boost?

Vacuum / Boost?

I just finished my rebuilt motor again the last time I noticed 10 psig. of vacuum on my Auto meter Boost / vacuum gauge. This time setting at idle it reads 21 psig of vacuum. During normal driving it maintains 10 psig. of vacuum.

Is that normal?

Reason for rebuild was 3 blown piston rings 3-bad pistons, 3 bad valves and guides. We also repaired the passenger side head which had 3 lobes where the spark plugs come through that were melted about 20% .

Do you have a built motor also?

Nope sorry.....stock block with the esxception of Manley rods....not that, that would effect anything. I see around 10 at cruising and about 21-23 at idle.

That is pretty close to what I see and I have the above. Except the intake and heads aren't polished.

I'm sure you thought of this, but if you put it on a mustang dyno they can similate a 1/4 mile run, shiftng through the gears and sucha and monitor the engine at specific speeds and RPM's.

Food for thought.
