More on Dynamat

Well, i found out today that at my local Tweeter store it would cost me a bout 750 bucks to do tha truck. That sounds crazy to me. So i have been searching and getting replies about the Brown Bread. I think this sounds like a good product at a good price. I was tryin to figure out the install. Is it difficult? Are there any places that will install it? Thanks for the replies.

I imagine the majority of that $750 quote will be labor. Like jc_atl suggested, get RAAMmat if you are going to do it yourself. Two rolls($200) netted me two layers, including the doors, minus the roof.

BTW, it will stink inside for a couple of weeks.

YtDiamond05 - no it's not hard...i did my benz a couple of years ago, and that was much more of a project to take on then our L's. Obviously i'd take out the seats and pull out as much carpet as possible, as well as the door panels.....take your time to get this stuff off and DON'T break the plastic pins that keep everything in place, or you'll have a *****load of squeeks. Once you put it in (whatever you decide to use), use a heat gun (home depot has them for like $14) and go over the dynamat (or similar product) so that the adhesive BONDS to the metal (or plastic) then put everything back in. You'll definitely hear the difference. It will take a full day to do, if you take your time, and do it right....there's no sense spending so much money on this stuff, if you're just going to do a *****ty job putting it in....

It's not hard to do at all. I'm in the middle of doing it right now. I took everything out in a couple of hours, seats, panels, carpet, etc.. I would have finish except the UPS man didn't come today even though he had marked it on the slip that the next delivery attempt would be today. Pissed me off. I have my truck all torn appart and now I have to what till monday to finish. Sorry, I'm just a little upset. I also installed a drive shaft loop at the same time. I figured while I have everything out I might as well. But it's really easy, you shouldn't have any problems.

Keep in mind that damping mat only works in reducing rattles and low frequency noise. If your goal is to sound deaden your cab from road, wind, and exhaust noise then damping mat used in conjunction with foam and vinyl/lead mat is ideal.
