just a thought.. would oil puke out the valve cover filters if they put too much oil in the truck?

what if they put 7 quarts in?

"what could i have done to somehow pressurize the valve covers to make oil shoot out? "

Could your PCV valve be clogged/plugged up?

I'd recommend another oil change. Also, make sure you use a Motorcraft filter. Sounds like your system is being pressurized somehow.

Is it possible that the head gasket is a bit messed up on one of the exhaust holes, and it's causing some exhaust to shoot back into the engine?

Check out this old thread http://198.65.157.241/forums/showthr...threadid=93418

I've been thru this already, when I pulled the engine apart in march both head gaskets were trashed. Everytime the thing would lift the heads I could smell coolant inside the cab and when you put a light under the hood you could see puddles in the engine valley under the intake manifold. This was caused by loosing traction on the street and going into an overrev and then the computer would try to slow it down by shutting off the fuel and it would try to shut off the boost but of course it couldn't cause that was bypassed.

"will too much oil harm anything?"

Yes

Yes

More

Too much oil may be your problem?

Tip: keep the oil level below the max and above the min line - too much oil and the crank will splash around in it causing a loss of power and at worst it will get into places it shouldn't and start leaking or damage the engine and too little oil will cause premature wear. Always change the filter with the oil. Of the 7 oil changes I had done at garages only 2 had the correct level of oil - (3 would have caused serious damage to the engine if I hadn't spotted it!) after a service check the dipstick and complain if the oil is under the min or over the max mark

Brooks, one or two things, neither of them are fun...

1) like others have said, blown HGs...
or worse
2) cracked or broken ringlands in the pistons. Sounds like you have a TON of blowby.

clonetek,
With your truck running 12.6's I'd say your motor is sill fine. Just changing the stock PCV valve to a Motorcarft EV-98 will stop the boost from getting in the passenger side cam cover.
Then if oil still comes out the breather, the preassue would be from any of the other really BAB motor problems that have been suggested.

But if no oil comes out the breather cap with the new PCV valve on, putting the stock cap back on will close the PCV system from unmetered air.

If you aren't blowing blue smoke out the exhaust, then I doubt it's a broken ring. It also does not sound like you have a head gasket issue. It does sound like something MAY be up with your PCV system. How exactly have you modified the crankcase hoses and related stuff? Also keep in mind that crankcase "breathing" is a push/pull. When the motor is running, air is being push out the breather and sucked back in. It is quite normal to have oil runoff out your breather cap, but yours sounds more than normal. Have you blocked off the line from either valve cover to the intake boot? If so, under high load crankcase pressure can only go out the breather, and not back into the intake like originally intended. Juat some ideas.

back in early 01, i replaced this hose:

with a breather filter:

and blocked off the hole in the boot like so:

to combat the flow of oil into the throttle body.
i also have a oil cap breather filter on the truck.

there was always a little film of oil on the drivers side breather, but never like this.

i bought a new pcv valve # EV-98-B
but havent installed it yet.
