Autometer guages and 2 guage pod question
Autometer guages and 2 guage pod question
I'm looking to get an Autometer fuel pressure guage and an Autometer boost guage with guage pod for the L. The guages will probably be the Phantom series.
Where is the best place to get this stuff?
How tough is the install of these guages??

one of the vendors will have them (JDM, JLP, REM, PSP)....and as for the install, they are involved, but come with pretty good instructions. Each gauge is different, so the hookup is different, meaning the difficulty factor is different. Good luck....
While I'm all for supporting the vendors on this site, odds are you can get the pod and gauges cheaper from somewhere like Summit Racing or Jeg's. Any questions about hook-up should be answered by doing a search here or just posting asking for help.
AUTOMETER Gauges
The dual guage pod is relatively easy to install. It is held onto
the A-pillar cover with 4 plastic push in retainers similar to the
type that hold most of the other plastic interior pieces in. Two
holes will need to be cut into the pillar cover to accomodate the
routing of the tubes and wires. The A-pillar cover snaps off and
on but in may take some determination.
The boost gauge is easy. The existing dash gauge is plumbed
with a 3/16" vinyl tube that comes in through the firewall under
the dash. The tube is in two pieces. One part comes from the
engine and the other is attached to the back of the gauge. The
two halves are joined with a rubber connection. You can buy
a tee at your local NAPA and use rubber hose to connect it. With
a tee you can have both gauges working.
The fuel pressure is a different story. The one I was looking at
some time back had an electric sender that was attached to the
fuel line at the schrader valve under the hood. You will need to
find a way to route the wires through the firewall. You may not
have a problem drilling a hole in your truck but I am kind of
picky about that kind of thing. Also, the last time I checked, the
fuel guage is doggone expensive. Something like $275 bucks.
