Cool Any thoughts on this for a Lightning tow vehicle.

Was at the local GMC dealership tonight. Worked some numbers on a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab SLT 6.6L Duramax. The Cobra is probably gonna go in on trade for the truck if everything works out well. Anyone have any experience with these trucks>??? Good feelings or bad feelings about them. All opinions welcomed as I DO NOT want to make a mistake on a $47,000 truck. I would imagine it would have no problems towing the Lightning wherever I decide to race next year. Thanks in advance. -Mat-

I have riddin/ drove an duramax diesel and a new powerstroke!!!
Both have PLENTY of power to tow your lightning and probabl two other vehicles.... LOL!!!

I would take a powerstroke though, SInce I am a ford man... but both have more than enough power to pull your combo.... especially since u have an open trailer......

Hell you saw me pulling a 28ft enclosed trailer with an escalade.... and thats a gas powered engine that was way overloaded........
But we have been lookin at new trucks to pull the trailer.... so let me know how u like your new investment if/when u get it....devil:

email or IM if u have any other questions.....

SVTF150- The GMC Duramax is a great truck, I've got the same truck you're looking but its the 3500 Dually 4x4. Gets 14 mpg pulling a loaded 46ft car trailer, around 20 on the highway without a load. We looked at the Ford powerstrokes, but the interior isn't great compared to the GMC's and the Allison 5spd auto really kicks a$$. Our first one had the 8.1 liter big block, but that thing got worse mileage than the L. I've put about 200k miles on 3 GMC HD's over the past few years and never had any expensive repairs or major warranty work.

We've got 2 GMC Duramax's now with the allison's, and they get worked hard. I recently drove my uncle's new dodge (pos) dually with the Cummins and 6 spd, and that truck is lame compared to the ford power stroke and GMC. Sorry so long, the point is get the GMC.

I like the cummins diesels especially the new ones......
but dodge really messed by just adding a door to there existing truck....... It might have 4 doors but it doesn't have the room of the duramax or the ford.......... BUt it can pull a house down.... its got the power........

but when it boils down to it....... it is still a dodge....

Go with the f350. I have a 2002 F350 7.3 auto powerstroke lariet 4 door to pull my race car trailor 48ft inclosed weighing in at about 15,000 loaded. I have a chip and K&N drop in and she runs 80 all the way up a nice size hill. I think the sticker on it was about 42,000 when it was all said and done

So you are buying another truck to tow your stock block truck to the track? Is your L not streetable anymore?

I'm looking forward to the day when my Lightning becomes my tow vehicle for a real race car.

This is what we opted for.

It drives great and with a load is a good ride. It has a lot of power to really get things moving also. AND is less expensive than the truck you are looking at. But we still kept the Freightliner.

Mid December it will look like this, for the most part.
