Q. about injectors
Q. about injectors
im going to be installing a KB blower and KB T/B...With my current mods. -2lb upper, 4lb lower, Volant CAI, Shift kit, Diablo Chip, and straight pipes...running about 14-16 psi..how does the stock fuel system hold up? do i need bigger injectors?? say 50lbers? new fuel pumps, fuel rail? ive read bigger injectors are needed for trucks making over 450rwhp..and hopfully i may make a little more than that...thanks guys
Hey Guy,
I am close to what you are doing and just ordered my 55 injectors. I had the high flow pumps and was still running on the very low side. After all that you have done, whats a little more money.
You might give Paul a call at Razors Edge, he has never sold me anything I did not need. In fact, he told me to wait on the injectors because some people were getting by without them.

Leo, like Pete said............
I am running 16lbs of boost, equipped with dual cobra 255 pumps, stock 42lb injectors and stock rails etc. My a/f at peak hp and torque is 12.6 it levels in the mid and high rpm's at 12.1. - all at a conservative 14 degrees timing and of course 93 octane.
Our tuner (Willie Figueroa, diablo) suggested I move to larger injectors if I wanted to see mid 500's in hp, the combination of 16lbs and stock injectors held me at the 496/562 dyno result. Keep in mind this is a virgin '03 engine with only 1800 miles at the time of this tune. She hasn't even broken in yet. And it was 90 degrees during the run. The bottom line was I max'd the stock injectors at the 16lbs with my KB.
Due to the fact I am running a stock block he recommended I run with my current burn (Revolution chip) - the move to larger injectors would really put my rods at risk as a result of the hp gains.
I am completely satisfied with my current set up. When I move to the built lower I will then look at the larger injectors and a high boost application. Food for thought - Willie is one of the best KB - L tuners in the country, period - he is a master in the KB community, personally I would strongly recommend any KB owner seek his services.
Good Luck!
