Stock Factory Speakers

i created a post about a week ago asking what size the speakers are and everyone said 6x8 in both the front AND the rear...

I am planning on getting a MTX Thunderform that holds 2 10"s... but would like to upgrade the regular speakers first.... so I have a few questions

1. can I get something better than 6x8 for the front? if so, will i have to do some customizing or not? what is best for front?

2. with subs in rear, should i even change the rear factory speakers at all?

3. what is a really good speaker? i was thinking MB Quart

Forget about changing the rears. I upgraded the front door speakers, put an Thunderform in the back with 2 JL 10's and left the rears for filler. I cant even hear them over the subs.

It all depends if you're going to run an amp for your front speakers. If not, I would stay with a 5x7(6x8) co-axial type speaker. Some good ones are the Polk DX-7'S or Eclipse makes 5x7 point source speaker that is pretty good, but more money. Components can easily fit in there also by making a mounting plate. You might have to trim some of the sheet metal for some of the speakers though. Kicker RS6C are good components and you can mount the tweeter in the center of the mid for ease of install.

If you have a budget in mind and tell me what kind of music you listen to, I can recommend a pretty good system for you.

i listen to mainly alternative music... 3doors down, staind, pearl jam, etc... but ocasionally i like to listen to a little rap like eminem...

i dont really want alot of bass, i would rather it sound clear and good with some bass than so much bass it distourts the music...

so what size component? 5 or 6" and what exactly do i do with the 1" tweeter that is comes with??

also, the mtx thunderform says 500watts rms... does that mean 500w each or 250w each??

any suggestions on a good amp for the subs and for the components

I fit 6.5 inch components in my old L. You just have to make an adapter plate out of some 1/4 inch MDF. Use a good hole saw for the tweeters and you're done. Just make sure you go with a seperate amp for the components.

I have the subs in the back, and you can see the tweeters in the door. And the amp for the components is under the passenger seat.
