San Antonio Test and Tune
EDIT: The track is closed on 11-26-03. The new date for this event is 12-03-03.
All,
It looks like this Wednesday is going to be *THE* day to race a Lightning. I have been waiting for the stars to line up all year!
As we all know forced induction motors lose about 2% of their power for every 10-degree increase in ambient temperature. Normally aspirated motors only lose about 1%.
The best race weather for our trucks is:
50 - 60 degrees ambient temperature
Barometric Pressure over 30 in.
Humidity below 75%
Ambient temperature and power are indirectly proportional. Ambient temperature and traction are directly proportional.
With that being said, I will be at San Antonio Raceway this coming Wednesday (December 3, 2003) at 7:00 p.m.
Since my place is on the way to the track for most people why don't we all meet up at my place at 6:30 p.m. so we can follow each other to the track?
Let's see how deep into the 12's I can get! Anyone else interested in beating their best time?

sounds like fun
I don't have a Lightning to race just yet but I do have a Cobra that's just iching to get into the 11.50 et zone. And with San Antonio being an IHRA track I just may see you there. I'm about an hour south of Houston and it takes me about two and a half hours to get there.
See you there,
Paul

As for the chip, if the line pressure is increased from stock in your chip (consult with your tuner) then yes you will need to reburn it for street use. Your race program can increase the line pressure a little, you just don't want to run the line pressure above stock all the time (i.e. on the street). When line pressure is increased via the chip the front pump on the tranny goes dry for a few milliseconds during shifts.

I'm no master, I just learn from the best. Sal at PSP, Greg at Factory Tech, and Stan from Ruslow Performance. They are the real masters! But thanks for the complement!
Either way you decide I can help you with the install.

I'm running a Factory Tech Monster Box Trans. But it does have the same valve body. You can take a ride in my truck to get a feel for it if you want. Mine will shift a little harder than yours even after you replace the valve body but that is because I have about twice the clutch surface as a stock trans.

So what all have you done to your truck, and who does all of your work? What did the monster box set you back? Who installed it. I have been scared to take my truck anywhere around here cause I didn't know who to get to work on it that was trust worthy. I did everything on my own except for the 4 pounder and JDM did that at FFW 1 1/2 yrs ago.
