LIGHTNING/HD Predator released!

We @ JLP will also be marketing the predator.. We will not sell this unit under the pretense that this unit will *NOT* Void your Warranty..remember*any* modification you do to your vehicle could possibly void your warranty..We @ JLP will offer our years of Knowledge and *Tuning* abilities of the Lightning/HD trucks.. This is a *new* unit and we @ JLP have had a hand in working with the *tunes* in the unit. however there will be changes needed to be made with each vehicle. NO 2 vehicles are the same.. there are *thousands*of different modifications and combinations on *Thousands* of lightnings/HD. which will need some kind of change to get the most out of there mods. Thats where we @ JLP can help you get your *Specific* Combo Dialed in.. We have been *modifying* the Predator for the 03 cobras with Great Success. I see you finally got the dyno up and working!!!!!

I Dyno'd sues HD @ 17# of boost, pump gas, Stock cats and stock manifolds it made 530rwhp,630 trq. i'll be putting in some 116 octane and 23# of boost next week to see what we can do..... JL

so HONESTLY how does thing thing work.

I know it reflashes the stock computer
and it has a bunch of gizzmos and do-hickies....

so if I get one PRE-Programmed, and I get bored can I start screwing with the settings? That would only lead to an explosion or something.....

No but seriously. I've read all about it's features, but what value is this to a normal (moderately modded) lightning owner.

I'm not flaming, I need more info on what and how it does what it does and what i can screw up with it

I already have a couple of Diablo Chips now,
(The one I use is JLP tuned of course)
but I can still see me getting a predator in time.

I'm told I can plug it in, make a pass, and get TRUE
A/F and timing #'s. Then "if need be", "I" can tweak it a tiny bit (in only 2 minutes) and dial it right in.
And I believe I can also take that info, email it to the tuner, and have a TRUE CUSTOM PROGRAM made FOR ME and send back to me via the net

- Diablosport has generated dyno tested tunes for factory Supercharged Lightnings/Harleys.

Tune 1 - For Factory Boost Level (8#'s).

Diablosport Predator allows the end-user to make the following fine tuning adjustments:

- Idle: Will adjust for both Drive and Neutral

- Fuel Base: Will adjust from -15% to +15% for PE mode
- Spark Advance (Timing): Will adjust from from -10% to +10% for PE mode
- Rev Limit: Will adjust for both Rev Limit drive and Rev Limit neutral. Allows user to adjust ON/OFF rev limits, for each individual gear, in 10 rpm increments. Allows up to 6000 rpms on Lightnings/Harleys.

DiabloSport Performance tunes require the use of Super Unleaded/ Premium grade fuel only, Amoco, Sunoco, or Mobil, if possible.

- Predator can read and erase fault codes, and contains all the Ford specific P codes.

Wow. Thats pretty intense. I havent really done any reading on it but what is the learning curve on using this chip. Can someone read the manual and all of a sudden start screwing with their air fuel ratios? Is this chip going to lead to whole bunch of shadetree mechanics blowing their motors? Just a thought.

rhino: the predator comes with a step by step manual. before you start *modifying* the tunes that are already on the predator i would make sure you discuss this with an experienced tuner. We @ JLP will help you make the right choices to help you achieve your goals *safely*...JL

I could be wrong here but i would think that JL already done the research and found the best tunes for said application.basically i feel that if there was a "better" tune combination JL would have found it by now.Basically this tuner is gonna make alot of people "think" they are a tuner now and blow some trucks up

Im sure it will be fun tp play with but i see more bad then good for the general public.I do agree that if the time is taken with a certain truck ,one could possibly get the "right" tune for "them" but they should be VERY careful doing it.

I hope this doent sound too negative cause i think i would like to have one but just think there is alot of room for destruction with all of us power greedy owners

I'm going to grab one... I'm interested in the ability to tune shift points, tire sizes, shift duration, etc. I'm also interested in the datalogging portion as well.

Think about it... You have a flip with a couple of different programs. With this you can tweak it for the street/track without having to have several programs.

If you need a tune for the a/f, timing, etc., yes, I would rely on your tuner to make those changes, but for the other stuff, it's nice to be able to change on the fly... If you do need to be richened, leaned, timed up/down, etc., you get an EMAIL file and reflash your predator, then reflash your truck... If your truck is "out there" like mine, a stock program isn't going to work in any way. I'd be down having to ship back and forth.

An autotap (in my opinion the best low dollar datalogger and scan tool) is about 350 bucks. Everyone should have one... For another $69 you can have a datalogger that sounds to be pretty good (the 90 samples thing is really interesting to me) and you tune all sorts of stuff with the same device. It's a killer deal if you ask me...

One of the retailers carrying this product is here in texas. I won't mention their name but I drive by them everyday at high RPMs. They've cooked enough motors that I know of that I wouldn't go near them with a 10' pole... Make that 100'...

I've heard that if you have a base program and want to make adjustments yourself, you can only go like 5% each way. So, if my timing is set at 15 degrees, the most I can advance it would be 15.75 degrees. Is this correct?
Also, I thought it only held 1 program in memory, so you can't be at the track and switch between 2 or 3 programs, unless you have a laptop with you that is holding all your programs. Is this correct?

do you have a notebook computer? If you do, you could have as many of your programs as you want stored right there...
