New To Forum, Lightning Comfort Q
Hello all,
I am new to posting on this board, but have been lurking for many months. I recently got a new job that has me driving 2hours one way for a commute.
I am currently driving a Mercedes Benz SLK320 and have found it to be quite uncomfortable driving that distance.
While I intend to move closer to my new job, the home $$ will necessitate me getting rid of my SLK (and the payment).
I'm considering the F150 Lightning as a replacement. While it will be short term, how comfortable is the lightning on longer trips?
The roads here in IL can be somewhat rough, but what has been your experience on comfort?
Thanks

I just got my L about 15 days ago and I haven't yet figured out the right angle/adjustment on the seat to make it comfortable for me. I'm also used to much more lumbar support than what I can get with it cranked up in this truck.
I didn't buy it for comfort though.

If you don't like the firm seats in the Merc, you probably won't like the seats in the L. They are firm, but that suits me fine. I've been on several cross country round trips (1800-3200 mi) and really enjoy the L. It's no Comfort Queen, but like others have said, that's not why I bought it.
I guess I could clarify a couple of things too...the seats in the merc have very little padding and the ride is not something that the car is made for, after all it is a sport/performance car.
I think the biggest problem I have is the lower back area, and the suspension being so stiff that every little ripple in the road is amplified (especially with low profile tires)
If it weren't for the payment issue I'd probably be keeping the car even though driving a manual tranny in traffic can get old in a hurry.
I haven't test driven a Lightning yet or anything, but I almost went that route when I was shopping for my SLK.
I know historically pickups don't really have great ride characteristics either, and with the L being a performance pickup, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get comfortable in it.
Sorry for the ramble.
Cheers.

I can be a help here as I have driven many long (300 miles or more) trips at a time.
Once I was in the L for 13 straight hours (except for bathroom breaks) and I gotta say the L is very comftorable IMO.
I am not the smallest guy (280) and I have zero problems with long trips.
I think you would be very happy driving the L.

As for the seat, I think they are really comfy. I just got mine last month and have not made any real long trips yet but with all the driving I do, I have no problem with them.
I usually drive at least 20 miles a day and I've been on several treks all around Florida in the L, and I have to say that the seats are simply amazing IMO. I love the support they give when cornering, but they're also very nice on longer trips. Its all a matter of opinion though...
