lookin to buy a KB

ok...this comming up X-mas im looking to treat myself to a nice big mod...at first i was going to put 20' Boyde Coddington Timeless II's on the truck...for around 3k....but then one person suggested a KB and that would be sooo sweet!!! if i were to go ahead with the KB..would i just use my 2lb upper, and 4lb lower? i have on the truck now? my block is also completly stock...i dont need any new internals correct?? and then i'll sell my stock eaton..and get someting else...what have you guys seen stock eatons go for? mine has 20,000 miles on it...thanks guys

I bought my KB before I took possession of my L. I am very glad I did and would strongly recommend the KB especially if you have plans to get in some high boost applications.

Your current pulleys are fine, note - KB or a dealer like JLP will allow you to choose what ever size upper you want. I run a 3.20", 2 lb reichard on top and a JLP 9" or 6lb on the bottom. I also have the Metco idler set up - I would strongly recommend it. I have the longtubes, high flows so I generate 16lbs - 496/562 with all my mods. I am definitely on the edge with pushing our stock rods, but other owners have pushed it even further without the engine going boom. You should be fine with the 2 and 4.

I kept my stock eaton, for what I couldn't tell you, but I have seen them on E-Bay for $400 - $500 bucks.

Good Luck sounds like a great X-mas regardless!

D-Day

I am not a pro on KB, someone else will chime in.... But I think you can use your 4# lower, but you may need a new KB upper... I wish I had a KB up top and I wasn't overspinning this eaton and creating all this heat. The kb is so much more efficient than the Eaton. Even on the stock block, you will be happy. It is well worth the money. Good luck with it, Shane

That's not always the case. People (like myself) with Eaton's and big pulleys have a bigger chance of going Boom than people with KB's... If we all had KB's there would be less booms. (if people didnt take advantage of being able to make 20#'s of boost)

I'd much rather run even 16#'s out of the KB than 12-14 on the Eaton.... You'll be fine with 12-14 just get a good tune.
KB's are $3,000 new from Johnny @ JLP.
