Angry POP! ...Newest Blown Spark Plug Member...

With all the great news of everyone running new times, I have cr@ppy news...

Finally added myself to the Blown Spark Plug Club

My wife took out the truck to run a quick errand, she made it down the block, turned the corner, and POP POP POP. Never heard a huge pop, she said it just sounded like she ran over something and then the truck died. Fortunately she was able to pull into an AutoZone parking lot (closed...it was after 9pm on Saturday).

At first I wasn't sure of what it was, but was praying it wasn't the dreaded plug missile syndrome. Couldnt see much, so had my bro-in-law turn the truck over, and immediately heard the POP POP POP sound ... Shut it down, felt back 3 coil packs on the passenger side to find the loose one. Broke the coil pack off the head.

Thank god for Road Side Assistance with SVT... Got it towed 30 miles to my dealership and left it in front of the locked gate.

I go in tomorrow to pray for it being warranteed. The tech I work with at night is a cool guy, and has mentioned the plug issue to me before, so I'm hoping he'll take good care of me. Truck had 35760 miles on it. Last plug change was about 4k miles ago when I put in the NGK BR7EF's... I know I put em in tight enough (not TOO tight), and had planned to check em today. Figures.

As a side note, I did notice a new noise today when I started it up and was driving around, and thought I should check the plugs, as it sounded like a new exhaust leak... Guess I should have checked sooner. Hind sight is 20/20 as they say.

Oh well... Just thought I'd let everyone know. I'll update tomorrow night after I get to talk to the dealership. I'm going to try to get a loaner in the morning, then have them work on it 2nd shift.

...Maybe I can get them to put in the '03 heads

Sorry to rain on everyones parade
