Question Drag Radial users...HELP

I just bought a set of Nitto Drag radials and I'm not impressed. I only got to make a couple passes, so I haven't done enough testing to say for sure. Any advice on how much air to run at the track? How are you guys launching on them? Big smokeys or not too hot? Must....have......information...........gasp...... ......

Dont be fooled just because they say "Drag" it doesnt mean they are drag slicks. The track has to have real good track prep or else they wont hook. This tires are great for street traction but not for track use.

That's exactly how my buddy's Vortech'd '03 GT is on Drag Radials. I thought he was looney until he showed me. That sorta' sucks.

I am now on my 2nd set of nittos for the rear
and I must say when you first get them on, they hook like crap street or track
but I've found once you get a good few smokeys under theyre belt, they hook well and become hella sticky
so heat them up, long and hot and hold on.
oh and dont go below like 17-18psi in them, I found out the hard way what happens when you do....try between 18 and 20psi at the track and you should be good

well I've just started goin to the track with the L so I'm learnin to launch it the same as you......and after talking to numerous L owners at shows and track events I'm just sharing the info and tips they tell me...
next spring I intend on hittin the track more than the 3times I did this year and getting my launch down to what it should be...
My goal is to be a 11.7-12.2 truck without Slicks everyday driver...hopefully I'll do it......I'm thinking of trying the BFG Drag Radials next and seeing what I like more and which give me more hook.

I've always been told that size for size the BFG's hook better. Do they make one for the L?

They do not make BFGs for the 18in rims anymore. Nittos are good, but the secret is you have to heat them up. Get a good burnout and smoke em. I pulled a 1.74 60' last night with worn nittos. They are sticky as hell when they are hott.

Yes BFG does make a Drag Radial, but the only thing is that they only come in a 35series when the truck come stock with 45. so you'll have wider tires but thinner tireson your rims so its slightly more prone to blow out on a big pot hole than the Nittos are....its up to you if you wish to try them out, but be careful if you have alot of bumpy roads cuz I have friends with 35series on there tires like a friend with 18's on his VW that when he hit a pot hole hard he actually blew the tire out and cracked his 500 a peice rim
just be careful with them, Blow outs arent fun

I knew BFG made an 18" Drag Radial in two new sizes, I was just hoping they also made one similar to ours. The Goat's 60fts. rock the house though I wasn't using enough air in mine and they sucked monkey nuts. Thanks for the advice. I will be hookin' like a big dog next time.

18psi and TrukTrac bars. I've pulled a 1.84 without the bars before.
