Dangerous Brake Problem
Dangerous Brake Problem
I had to take my '03 L in due to a brake problem today. I wish I had taken pictures to show what was happening but my description will have to do.
As it was described to me...the caliper bolt (metal slide at the top of the caliper) had worked its way out somehow to a point where it was in contact with the wheel. It did a fine job scrapping the wheel but luckly I noticed it protruding from the wheel before it had a chance to go flying out. Now I have never worked on the brakes on my truck but from the description it sounds like that could have caused some pretty nasty problems.
Be sure to keep an eye on your brakes.

Deus:
Sounds like a quality control problem at the factory...thankfully
you caught it before something unfortunate happened.
But why "the caliper bolt (metal slide at the top of the caliper) had worked its way out somehow to a point where it was in contact with the wheel" happen in the first place?
