First drive home from the dealership
July 26th 2001. picked it up at 10 a.m., drove it straight to the radio shop(6 miles) for an Alpine system. Never even turned the factory radio on. I do not even know if it works. HEHEHE

It was a long day.
October 16, 2001. Flew from Austin to Baton Rouge via Houston (one way) on an early morning flight.
Cab to the dealership. They had paperwork waiting.
Headed out right in the afternoon at rush hour. Traffic was terrible until I hit the bridge over the river--you know, the one at like a 25 degree incline...
It was the first time I ever blew past cars going uphill like that.
Drove it through Shreveport on to Dallas. On the way it rained like crazy.
Stayed in Dallas that night at a friend's house. Then roasted the tires first thing next morning...
Man, I love that truck.

Not a Lightning but a 2003 XLT 4X4.
It was September 8th 2003. I had to work all day. My boss came into my office at around 2:00 and told me to get the hell out of there and go pick up my new truck. On the way to the dealership is started raining. Picked up the new truck drove it home and watched it get rained on. Then at 5:30 that night I had to work my other job till 10:30. Got off at 10:30 and cruised till midnight.
I can't wait to get my first Lightning. Hopefully after I pay off the 4X4.

The Test Drive was the Memory for me. Bought it from the same Salesman I bought the 96 Cobra from. Like I've said, I had been on a list since Aug of 01 in 2 Dealerships. Got the call finally on march 3rd saying he had a Black one for me, I said no, I wanted
a Red one, He said ok, I can prob find a Red one now that a few are in, but let me bring this one by so you can at least see what they're all about (Bastard was baiting me)
SOB drives to my Job, throws me the keys and says, go ahead, I have to go look in your showroom a while anyway, take your time.
I took this 70+ yr old man from work with me
Left Dave (the Salesman) in the Plumbing Supply I work for,
and I dissapeared for a good 1/2 hour.
Immediatly got on the main road and put it straight to the floor,
SOB was whining and I was smiling like I can't remember ever before. I work one light from the main expressway, turned on the service road, put it to the floor again, and did a hi speed 100+ parkway blast. Then mellowed out a bit and did maybe 3-4 exits. got off, stopped dead on the service road, and power braked the ever living schitt out of it. Did a few side roads, worked my way over to the other side of the expressway service road, stopped dead again, and did another major power brake.
It was right there during that test drive that I knew the
Rev Limiter had to go.
Beat it a while more and got back and said, I'll take it.
Went to pick it up the next day and found out it was already sold to another customer before the Salesman stole it, and I beat the ever living schitt out of it. The manager of the Ford Dealership started yelling at me and saying, are you the guy that beat that lightning to death and left burnt rubber all over a customers brand new car, I SAID YES I AM. Dave heard schitt too, and there I was with no Lightning and no others in the Dealership to drive home
???
After going home empty handed and discussed, I told Dave to find one before the weekend, or the Deals off. On the 7th I got the call they were gonna buy one out of State and have it driven down from a retired Cop. I waited at the dealership until he showed, I refused to let it out of my site, I wouldn't let them detail or prep it, we did the paperwork and I drove home in a dirty Black Lightning with 325 Miles on it.
Then spend the night detailing it, staring at it, and crusing the neighborhood showing it off.
I already knew the power it had

It was June 23, 2002 around 2:00 when I got my baby...drove it right out of performance auto sport and stopped by the amaco right across the street. Only had the truck for about 5 min. now and as soon as I got out of the truck I had the person next to me gaukin at it and was askin me tons of ?'s. Filled the tank up (35 bucks!) and drove it until 12pm that night. Will never forget that day!
