Magnaflow fitment?

Hey guys,

I just got done getting a Magnaflow catback installed. I took it to my local muffler shop. They did an alright job except the fit of the tips is not where I want it to be. However, they said that the only way to change that is to actually heat the pipe up and bend it? Is that true or can those catbacks usually be tweaked to fit right. I just want it to sit flush with the valence piece there, but right now it is noticeably slanted (probably because I am picky).

Thanks!

I too had my local exhaust Wizard install mine. It's perfect--tips and all. Mine is the single Magnaflow. Is your's the two-muffler, Silver Bullet c/b?

No it is the single muffler catback I ordered from LFP a while ago.

Can I see some pics of your tips? Again, I'm wanting mine to be flush and level.

I read that MF recently revised their catback for better fitment. Maybe you have the previous revision? Even so, most people got them to fit good.

My Magnaflow arrived from LFP only last week. I believe it is the newest updated version. According to Mark @ LFP, the truck that delivers his Magnaflow products dropped it off 2 Fridays ago.

The fitment of the tips and such were revised by Magnaflow months ago unless I am mistaken.

I just ordered my Magnaflow from Mark at LFP last week.
My exhaust fit perfect the tips fit flush and look and sound great.
My only problem was during shipment, one tip was bent
Mark great guy that he is though Has a new tip on its way to me for free as we speak and the local muffler shop it going to put it on for free....I love the sound, and it looks great....And you cant say enough about Marks customer service, he takes good care of the people that order from him, and with no questions asked will replace or fix any problem you have with one of his products.

How do you take the tips off? I thought they came attached already? Cut and re-weld?

Here are pics of mine. Notice the slight angle...they are not flush:

I know I'm picky....

yes, basically the shop it goin to cut off the existing bent tip and re weld the new one on

I actually took a closer look, and mine has the same slight crookedness......guess I'm not as picky about it but maybe when they put on the new tip I'll have them bend the other to fit more flush to the skirt

I bought ONE system from them to try out. It installed just like yours crappy! I had to heat and bend, trim heat shields etc just to get it to come out the slot. I will try to attach a pic. I build my own for 350 installed and am much happier than with the crap they are shipping for 5-600 bucks! They sent me a new revised one we are supposed to warranty this unit. I gave the cusotmer the system at cost because I felt so bad about the outcome. It has taken over 8 months to get a replacemetn syetem from them. Look at how I had to heat and bend the stock hangers down and trimmed the heat shield where the hanger HIT. Trimmed part not pictured.

Another thing that pissed me off, look inside the tips! The tips are like 24" long and have 18" of uncut pipe sticking through them. So only the last few inches is free to make a deep sound. They could have easily cut a foot of pipe off and cleaned it up a lot. Very disapointing experience from an otherwise good products company. I use a LOT of their tips and mufflers just not the L cat backs.

My muffler guy had to do a little adjusting, but nothing too serious. The catalytic converter pipes had to be repositioned and that was about it. Hopefully the picture is below. If not, check it out in my Photo Gallery.
