Exclamation Another new L owner... '04. Atlanta area.

Hi group,

Last week I picked up a new '04 Lightning... I traded in a 2000 Chevy with a suspension lift and big fat tires... so this is a pretty big change for me. (Hopefully that won't bring on Chevy bashing... in my book it's all good in the world of motorsports). I just moved to Atlanta from Nebraska about 6 months ago, so my life and driving needs have changed quite a bit. Sounds like a bunch of you are from here as well...

I've been reading up on mods to bolt on right away. Surely I'll do the beloved Bassani cat-back you all rave about.... and of course an air intake to match. I'm really glad to be back under warranty again, so I'm not sure how carried away I'll get with pulleys and chips off the bat. I'm interested in suggested first mods, but I know that question gets asked a million times... Hopefully a million and one won't hurt anyone.

I'm also interested in good Atlanta-area performance shops to check out (especially exhaust, right away).

Cheers!

wow, your trucks are on the opposite spectrums of the truck world. Welcome.
Question for you - what made you trade the lifted truck for a fast truck?

I bought a new Dark Shadow Gray Clearcoat '03L in May and as you I am trying to keep my warranty.

Question for you - what made you trade the lifted truck for a fast truck?
1) I had what turned out to be a pretty cheap lift-kit, poorly installed, which more-or less started to tear apart the important parts of my truck (front differential, drive shaft, tranny, wheel bearings, tires, shocks, and the lift components themselves). It needed about $6k in work to replace the lift and worn components just to make it safe to drive.

2) I ran out of warranty, and since moving I've lost my "old-boy network" and don't know anyone to help me fix things that break. I'm trying to learn... just not there yet.

3) I have over an hour commute to work now, in HEAVY traffic. My lifted truck just wasn't made for it. Forget stopping on a dime... It was a kick in a couple of feet of snow that I used to tool around in.

I hated to see my old truck go, but it was time. I struggled with what to buy next... I wanted the handling and speed of a sports car, but just couldn't bear to give up the utility of a truck.

The Lightning answered my call perfectly.

I'm interested in the performance shops in Georgia as well. I'm not from Atlanta but I do go through Atlanta on my way home during long holidays from school (Valdosta-Hartwell). Congrats on the new truck as well

I can vouch for modularfordpowerhouse. Very conscientious about their work. Give Tim or Jeff a call right away!

FastAsL:

There certainly are 04 L's out. The local dealer here in Athens has had 2 of them so far...I even photographed one.
