Question uhh...do i have gears? help please!

ok, as most of you guys know, i bought my 03 L used with about 330 miles on it. guy just wanted a bigger truck. he modded it a little bit (check out my sig). if i remember correctly, on my 2000 5.4 4x4 when i was going 70mph i was right at 2k rpm. that truck i know for fact had 3.55's. today, i was going exatcly 70mph in my L, and running around 2300 rpms. this leads me to believe that the guy before me put in 3.73's? anyone have any ideas?

Stock 03 gears are 3.73s. He may have put in 4.10s. I assume you are running a stock tire? If you want to check and don't mind getting a little dirty, pull the rear end cover off and count the ring gear teeth and the pinion gear teeth and divde for your gear ratio. Or you could find someone with anohter 01-03 and just do a tandem 50-60mph cruise next to them and compare.

Yeah that sounds about right. I've got a 2000 with 3:55's. I checked it last night. Going 70 miles per hour my rpms are either right above 2000 or a little below 2100. With your 3:73 you're only at 2300 that's not as much of a difference as I thought...
