Quote from Sticky: Cooler weather brings on more power and some engine problems - SV's offer help

"Doug,

This is a good idea. Its nice of you to take the time out and work on this for all Lightning owners. When colder air comes it builds more cylinder pressure which increases a possibility of detonation and at high RPM's, pegging the 5.0 volts on the mass air meter. I believe everybody should have a warm/cold weather program but most choose street and race. As for pulleys in the cold air JDM does not recommend 8 or 10 pound pulleys even in the warmer months. The big things here is to know your vehicle. If you have it pushed to the limits say with a 6 pound pulley and an aggressive street tune you increase your chance of detonation greatly in the colder months. Even if you go down to the stock pulley I still recommend reducing timing. We will give free reburns to all our customers that have single chips for the winter months. For those of you with 6 pound pulleys I will put the timing back to stock. For those of you with 4 pound pulleys you will have 2 degrees extra through the midrange and stock timing at wide open throttle. With 2 pound pulleys, 4 degrees through the midrange and two extra degrees up top. "

Jim@JDM Jim (or anyone at JDM)

I see you are giving free reburns for those who purchased single program chips. Are you doing the same for those who spent the extra $100 for a flip chip???

I don't really know what this post is about, but if you bought a chip from JDM or anyone, and are not happy with the tune, contact that tuner. JDM as I'm sure do most people, charge for a reburn....HOWEVER if you call them up, they will most likely do it for free if you are not a ****. (I have only paid for one or two reburns over the years) Either way, give them a call!

whip i understand that....and believe me, i'm not trying to start anything by my thread....as you can see by my mods JDM is my tuner of choice, and since what Jim had said was quoted in a previous thread, asking a direct question shouldn't cause problems....what's the difference whether i call him or post it?

He isn't slamming anyone - he is only trying to see if he can get the same help that the single program chip people are getting.
It's misunderstandings like this that can often times lead to the small, stupid wars on here.

The funny thing is, He addressed the thread to Jim @ JDM. Why is there always someone butting into the question with, "words of wisdom"?

Jezus, all you suck ups to the tuners out there...remove your lips now please. It won't get ya any brownie points.

Rocks

LightningCT,

For he flip chip guys the best thing would be to call up and give us the code on the back of the chip so we can see if you have a program already suitable for the colder weather.

Hope this helps,

Justin@JDM

I guess I'll throw my 2 cents in. Doug has on many occassions let people know that this forum isn't for one to one contact. It's for one to many, which means a post should be of a general nature that can be answered by many on this forum. One to one contacts should be addressed through private email. I personally don't have a problem with this post, but unfortunately when the name JDM comes up it brings out all kinds. I also think he would get a better response by picking up the phone and calling JDM or sending the company an email.

I respect your post.....but their Superchip flip chip is not a one to one purchase...hundreds have been sold to many of us on this forum. This thread is one to many, it was for Jim@JDM to tell all of us flip chip owners. Maybe i should have called JDM and asked them to post it....regardless, next time i'll call and forget about everyone else who will, undoubtedly have the same question i do

OMG! I been away from the computer for a bit, so I didn't see where this thread went (the toilet) I wasn't tryin' to be a *****, I was just thinking you'd be better off calling him and he would most likely (as would any tuner) take care of you.

Also sorry for posting without researching the post about the colder weather.

03...teachers pet, huh? Were you the stupid kid in the back of the class that was beyond help???
