Question Shift points - what are yours set at?

My mods are in my sig. Truck shifts (since the reburn) at about 5500-5600rpms on the 1-2 and 2-3.

My best times in IDENTICAL weather and track conditions were 12.75@107.5 w/ a mid 1.8x 60'

Last night with all the new parts, ran:
13.06@105.4 1.96 60'
13.03@104.9 1.90 60'
13.02@105.1 1.89 60'
*WTF?*

Yes, the truck was running PERFECTLY consistent.... but, perfectly consistantly SLOWER than my best runs w/ JUST a 3# pulley, chip and JL's ram air and cone filter - everything else stock.

I'm wondering if it's too high of shift points, too little timing (I ran a 50/50 mix of 93 and 100 octane last night, no pinging what-so-ever), or some crummy A/Fs. I'll be dyno'ing soon to see what A/Fs and my curves look like.

Rob_02 and Fast Gator: You guys both had similar mods as I do, (although running w/ slicks), but MUCH different times. What's your formula?

What's everyone else running in their tune?

TIA...
-Jeff

Mine is set around 5,600 also. I think that RPM shift is pretty typical from all 3 major tuners. My best time is in my sig. with chip only (no pulley).

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm running PIG rich (as a friend states..).

I had the chip burned for just a 6# pulley and filter. JLP didn't factor into account my free flow cats, 160* stat, new plugs, etc..

Who wants to place money on the A/Fs I'm running are in the 10s?

I have always questioned the higher shift points. When you look at most dyno results the power starts to fall at 5200 that's the stock setting (I believe) and that's where I kept mine. But in reality if I watch the tach, she runs to 5400 - leads me to believe that the accuracy of our tachs is in question (but that's a whole other topic).

My tune resulted in 496/562, 14 degrees timing, a/f is hot out of the gate in the 14's, but she very quickly drops in the 12's and levels at 12.1 for the higher rpms, this is all on 93 octane.

Mind you I haven't been to the track, waiting for the cooler weather down here in Florida, but I can tell you this my L absolutely rocks on the street and I love it!

Good Luck!

D-Day

How did that affect your ET's and trap speeds?

I can't be for sure because I did some other mods at the same time.

Is everyone pretty much shifting the same RPM between 1-2 and 2-3?

When(and if) the Predator comes out, I'm going to do testing with shift points. There's got to be a sweet spot depending on mods. I'm determined to find it

I go through the traps with my Overdrive off. I'm going to get in line for a Predator also.

You need more timing, thats all

My Shift points are very high, 5700 - 6000 RPM.
Your problem is not the Shift points, it's that high
because it's much more important where the RPM's are
AFTER THE SHIFT, the tuner knows what he's doing,
just get some more timing. You need a Min of 16 degrees,
(I run 18, but we are at sea level with Ultra 94)

With Juice I run 16 Degrees of timing now
