Looks good man, no oil at all in their... the brown stain is just from the first time when you didn't have the seperator installed correct?

I will be installing mine asap.!

JeffsLightning,

"NOSURPRISE you seem to know allot about my IC without even being here. You want to come by and show me what I'm not seeing? Whatever brown or light coloring you see in the pics. is from the first time when I pulled the blower/IC. It was totally saturated then.. "

So which pictures are you showing us in this thread???

Everyone is saying how clean there are as if these were after the 5k oil seperator trial??

If you cleaned the inter-cooler the first time you took the inter-cooler off and then installed a seperator and now 5k later you took the inter-cooler off again, show us the pictures from after the 5k trial, please.

I stand by what I said. What you're showing in the first two photos of this thread, IMHO, is the top of a oil soaked inter-cooler.

Ok....whatever you say... I'll have look at my IC again because what I'm seeing and feeling is ZERO oil residue. The discoloring you are seeing was from the first time I cleaned it when it was oil soaked. Guess I should have worked on it harder then to get that discoloration out. It was oil free and that is all that mattered to me..

check out this pic:

It's a factory 5.4L. Note that the passenger side PCV and the line connected to it DOES NOT 'T' up to the intake. It just runs straight back behind the engine into the lower intake galley.

Forget seperators. Just block off that d@mn line before the upper intake plenum on our trucks. No more large amounts of oil. PERIOD.

Quick question, that pic is of a naturally aspirated motor right? If so, then it doesn't need the line going to the upper plenum because there is not excess pressure (boost/blowby/whatever) in the crankcase from a blower, right? Pressurizing the crankcase is a bad thing, and having a line right to the plenum above the blower (vacuum) would seem to alleviate this (only leaving the single PCV line going to the lower intake manifold would be insufficient in venting excess crankcase pressure since that area is under boost also at WOT). Or am I missing something here? I'm not saying the stock L PCV is necessarily perfect... (it should not circulate in 2 directions), but I'm just wondering if the upper line is necessary to control crankcase pressures. Someone please explain or correct my understanding of this system please.

In Jeffs Lightnings picture of Promodslightning you can see BOTH seperators have about the same oil in them.. maybe thats why my 1 did NOT sep. all the oil.. however i doubt 2 or >>more<< would do it either.....

I might go to a blocking device..All I know is Ford F*c*ed up on our PCV design...I'm sure they thought they knew what they were doing but once AGAIN thet failed us...

JeffsLightning,,, I now have mine blocked off with breathers on both valve covers... I Know i am not getting oil now... but i still have to clean out the top half of the motor... and then figure out if i am hurting or helping the engine, by keeping it blocked for the rest of its life Also running breathers is a little messy also... especially on the pass side,,, or maybe i only need one on the driver side the truck seems to run real good,, however once i ,, er we all get our intakes cleaned out,,, they will ALL run better!!! after all these are NOT 2 strokes!!

Boltittome,

Replacing the stock PCV valve with a Motorcraft EV-98 PCV valve, will stop the oil coming out of the breather caps.

The breather caps are no longer needed after blocking off the upper plenum hose and installing the new PCV valve.
