Smoothed/Shaved/Painted OEM Wiper Cowl
Smoothed/Shaved/Painted OEM Wiper Cowl
All my plastic parts are almost installed.
Got the oem wiper cowl that has been smoothed and painted installed this weekend.
The vents on the oem cowl have been shaved smooth to the cowl surface, makes a huge difference!
Painted cowl looks great next to my powdercoated gloss black wiper arms. I even had the plastic caps that cover the screws painted on the wiper arms to match.
I really need some help.
Bumper step has been removed and now needs to be smoothed for the painter.
GETTING SOOO CLOSE TO SHOW READY... ANTS IN THE PANTS!

I use a small angle grinder attached to a compressor with some assorted scotch brite pads and some aggressive sanding discs (60,80 and 120 grit). This will remove the ridges and dipple texture. I then use my portacable orbital buffer with some 220 and 320 sanding discs. When part is smooth I will skim coat the surface with some everlcoat body filler and sand that out. The piece will sit for 2 weeks to see if there is any settling in the body filler. A secound coat of everlcoat with them be applied and sanded smooth.
If the piece sands threw in the first few steps, I will have to rough the backside of the bumper cap and fill it with several layers of body filler before I precede with any other steps.
