Torque to Yield bolts on Supercharger.

Getting ready to clean intercooler and port Supercharger ........

I have read that the Supercharger bolts are torque to yield stretch bolts - a one time use item.

Is it really nessessary to use those type of bolts in this peticular application ?

It seems like overkill to me. I was thinking of just replacing them with some stainless steel shoulder bolts.

Does anyone have the torque specs and tightening sequence ?

I reused mine when I did my blower swap. I haven't had any problems do to it either. I used the torque specs that came with the KB in the instructions. I don't remember off the top of my head what they were and do not know if they are the same for the factory eaton. Some help I am. -Mat-

just reuse your existing bolts and you'll be fine.

ford didn't include new bolts when they had the intercooler recall, so everybody that had that recall done has had their bolts reused.

i'm not even sure if they are torque to yield or not, but they'll be fine.

chris

Patrick_PDX,

I enclosed a zipped word document that covers the torque specification and tightening sequence over at:

those are the intercooler bolts and studs, but if you look at the invoice they are not included in the "recall kit" xl3z-9424-ab

they ordered them seperately so, it's possible that some were siezed or damaged upon removal. or maybe that particular tech just replaces all of his, but it's not normally part of the recall.
