Cool New guy in MD wants to go to the track!

Getting my L tuned by JLP this weekend and I really want to take it to the track here in MD after all the recent mods. I know that we have the Capitol Raceway in Crofton right around the corner from my house. Anyone ever been there? If not, where is the best place to go in this area? I'd like to go with someone "experienced" the first time so I don't look like a complete IDIOT. Thanks guys!!!

Capitol is...well, a track I prefer not to go there, but it's good in a pinch. Traction isn't that great, and it's a rice haven almost every open day, with long lines and delays. It's the track that everyone from Baltimore/DC go to to hang out.

If you want to be broken in, I'd recommend a track rental day. Less people, and you'd get to know more people from the boards. It just so happens that there are TWO rentals next month, on the same day. SSOTN is renting out Cecil dragway on Nov 8th, which JohnnyLightning is coordinating the Lightning owners (contact him for a spot), but that costs $50. It's limited to 150 cars though, so you'll have the chance to get as many runs in as you'd like, and generally have a fun day. SVTOA is also renting the 75-80 dragway on Nov 8th. It's open to all SVT vehicles, and is only $20 to run, but most likely there'll be many more vehicles there.

Cecil Dragway is the track of choice. It's in the country area of Northern Maryland, in Rising Sun, MD (maybe 40 mins from JLP?). 75-80 is towards Western MD in Monrovia, MD. There is also Maryland International Raceway (MIR) in Budds Creek, MD, in Southern MD, down past Waldorf.

They're all a farther drive for you. Go around to each track and find the one you like best. I used to live down that way near Millersville, and trekked up to Cecil each time, I just loved it better than the others.

Kewl...thanks for the info, I'll have to talk to Johnny this weekend when I get my L tuned about getting a spot. Sounds like that would be a pretty cool weekend. Thanks again!

crapital (spelled that way on purpose) only has T&T's on friday nights. saturday and sundays are for actual races. i only go to crapital to beat up on some ricers. i usually only get in about 2-5 runs before i leave. but i don't get there real early and i leave early. It's all about choosing the right lane there.

go to cecil. best track i have been too.

If you wanna go to capital hit me up with an e-mail and i'll go. you will be surprised how many ricers are there and how many people will drool over your trk.

Will

I'd go to Cecil... I've been to 75-80 once but I didn't really like it...

I might have to roll down there tomorrow night if you guys are going. What time does it start? I think it'll be fun to watch all the rice. I won't have the tune I want until Saturday, that's when I am going down to JLP, but it should still be fun. Let me know. Thanks!

Do a before/after tune run, so you can see what a difference it makes. Then you can make sure JLP is doing their job
