Will the predator with its code and data reading capabilites be able to give us air/ fuel ratios through the stock 02's, or do we still need to get an air/ fuel meter or dyno to get that information?

Ok, this question has been asked many, many times, and still hasn't been answered authoritatively. If you flash your PCM with a program, and then reflash back to the stock program, is there any way the dealer can tell? Is there a timestamp on the flash? Is there an incremented bit for a flash/reflash? Is there a checksum or parity check that has to match? Is there a port access log/register?
From my rather basic understanding of flash and assumptions of what the predator will be doing... here is an answer for you...
Johnny -- feel free to correct me...
the predator is supposed to download and store the stock computer program "exactly" as it is on the ECU. Unless there is *another* flash type device on the ECU keeping track of programs as the come on/off the ECU, I don't think there would be any way to trace it. I would say that simply returning to stock and driving into the dealer might be an issue. I'd put 50 miles or so on my truck with the stock program before taking it in.
Ford is NOT dumb and I'm sure they will, if possible, find a way to detect the flash being changed. If the current gen computers can tell, I guarantee you the future ones can.
Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer, but my current assumption is that they will NOT be able to tell that you have downloaded a new program assuming you drive it around and let the adaptive system fill in all the tables before you take it in.

*Any Time* The Processor is reflashed it is able to be detected...Will ford dealers go that far to see? well thats hard to tell. This is why i never tried to sell this unit on the bases that ford will never know!..I'm sure they'll go that far at some point.....JL
Johnny, Can you give us a ball park figure in terms of price. I need to have my Sport chip re-tuned from you because of some changes to the truck I made. So then I thought maybe I should just get a flip chip from you. Now I am thinking I should wait a bit and get the Predator. But that will depend on the price I guess.
The thing I like about the Predator is the worry about the chip making full contact with the board is no longer an issue.

JL,
Where is the information stored with the stamp for the last flash time/date? In the flash itself? If so I would think that part could be "tricked". Is it still possible to tell it has been reflashed even after driving it a while? What part are they looking at in the computer to tell is has been reflashed?
thx!
