Hi I'm new here and would like to get a Lightning sometime in the near future, probably around february is when I will be getting a car and I will be able to drive in march.
A few questions
I will most likely be moding the truck, i know I can get a large gain just from a chip, but what else should i get?
What are some typical problems with the lightning?
I will be buying a used one, what should I look for problem/maintenace wise?

pulley chip filter combo should see at least around a mid 12

make sure the intercooler recall was done for 99-00 lightnings

 

6# boost pulley, diablo chip, and a cold air set up. Get an 01 or newer.

i think they had 20 hp less at manufacture...so its less to work with..thats not to say that theres most, if not all of the 99-00's couldnt smoke me!

99 and 00 are rated at 20 less horsepower. However.... it is a completely irrelevant point. Once you start modifications all years become capable of producing the same amount of power.
