How long do the alternators in Lightnings last? And what are some symptoms given when one starts to go bad or goes bad?

i lost mine with 25 miles on the odo. the symptoms were...when i tried to start, there was a loud clicking noise, with no turn over. with a batt. charger the truck started, but the electrical system was screwy at low rpms...the radio turned on and off..things like that. since ive got it replaced, there has been no problem (2000 miles now)

 

not sure but i wish u would buy my 200 amper!
