Question next mod?

ok guys....i need some advice. i saw the thread about wet okole seats, sounds tempting. but what should be next? k&n, chip, a bedrug? maybe a sound system....ive never put a sound system in any of my vehicles before. i also really like the carbon fiber dash from dash-kit . Any suggestions guys? The Expy console is really awesome, any one done it on their "L". How much would it cost to have the seat cut and re-upholstered? you guys werent kidding when you said "let the mods begin" seesh.

All depends on your individual tastes and how deep your pockets are. Since you have never had a system before then you probably will not miss it. Maybe add some gauges. They look good and are funtional.

Suggestion,

What are you wanting to do??

Are you wanting go fast mods? appearence or both??
I would do one set then the other

Fast then Appearance
Appearance then fast

etc..etc..

You know what a good mod is?? seriously for like 5$??

Go to the ford store and ask them for the plug that plugs the hole where your hitch ball goes. I think most will agree that is a good mod for the money!

I say you wake her up a bit! Do a chip, intake combo and you will feel a big difference with just the 2.

I couldn't agree more. Chip and filter baby! 13.1 in 90* heat. Those were the days. -Mat-

I'd go with chip, filter and pulley. Depending on how fast you want to go. I went 12.6 with just that in my 2000.
A chip you can get for $150-$200 (in the classifieds)
An open Filter you can get for like like $50-$75
A pulley you can get for $225-$300 new.
With those three mods, at the right track, and pending traction you should be into the 12's with your 03. If you dont want to do the pulley, you can just do chip and filter. (you should run low 13's) You can get a diablo chip or superchip. (single program or a dual program flip chip) Ive had both diablo and superchip. Single and dual program. I have been very happy with my tunes from jdm on my current flip chip. 1 side for race, one side for street...

After the chip, filter and pulley, I did exhaust and the shift kit. Both were fun mods to me. It made the truck real fun to drive. I love how the exhaust from jdm sounds. And I love how the truck shifts now with the valve body. Then I did gauges, then I got traction bars and slicks. Like people above said, it all depends on how fast you want to go. Good luck, Shane

Go with a modded stock airbox w/K&N rather than a "hot" air induction kit

man i hate being a newbie

uhh...ok i need help with those last two posts. ive installed a superchip before....but a flip chip? two different programs right? this truck is a daily driver, so i dont want it to run on a race program or anything like that. how would i go about modifying the stock airbox?? i had a volant intake on my 02 screw, which still pulled from the fender well. i saw that suncoast creations has a functional hood scoop. i would like to go with this setup. does anyone know of any other functional hood scoops that are worth it? one more question....ive heard alot about them, but what exactly is a pulley? i know the basics of where they are, etc but are they easy to install?

Alan, my L is also a daily driver, but I have a dual-flip chip. If your concerned about having one, its fine. I just leave it on the street side during daily driving and when u race, flip it over. Hope that helps? As far as the hood is concerned...check out cervinis hoods. Im thinking about getting the ram air one.

Get the new 1715 microtuner and a 2 pound pulley or a 4 pound pulley. The microtuner plugs into the diagnostic port so your not installing a chip that will give ford a good reason to void your warranty if anything was to happen while is still new. Also the microtuner lets you adjust shift points and firmness and gets rid of that "stock 1-2 short shift". My truck will smoke em at 15 mph in 1st and into 2nd......its a night and day performance difference.
check my sig. for performance gains ....I'm waiting on a 4# pulley...
Get a K&N panel filter until you get a pulley...then upgrade to a Air Force One or PSP fast air......

alan,
if you're looking for the performance side (which you probably will after driving your L for about 4 weeks) then you may want to look at JDM's stage 1 package. i got mine a few weeks ago, and it's like buying a whole new truck.....it really rips now and all the stuff can be done in a day (or less if you're good).....look into it... www.teamjdm.com
