THIS REMINDS ME OF A LIGHTNING IMPOUND STORY

the year 1999, "john" bought a new 1999 lightning. we took it to the track with only 1000 miles on it and it ran a 13.89. BONE stock.
2 weeks later with 3,500 miles on the Odometer, JOHN got his 3rd drunk driving (in michigan its a felony), truck impounded, Jail time, Probation.
Fast forward 3 years November 2002, still on probation and TRUCK STILL IMPOUNDED, John asks me if I want to buy it.
I tell him NO, it hasn't been moved in 3 years (immobilzed at $5/day)

He puts an ad in newspaper, many people come out and look at it, but they can't test drive it (still immobilized at $5/day)

I feel "sorry" for him and tell him I'll buy it for what he owes on it.
He says NO, I tell Him look, your on probation for another year and you're paying $5/day for the last 3 years and another to go. Plus you don't have a license and you need to keep insurance on it because it isn't paid off. He thinks about it.
Calls me 2 days later and it's a deal. I buy it.

becuase of his drinking and driving this is what it cost him:
a $33,000 truck that he paid on for 3 years, kept insurancfe on it for 3 years, paid $5/day immobilization fee. and only drove it 3,500 miles!

what else did it cost him:
jail, jail fees, probation, probation fees, a very very nice truck.

Is drinking and driving worth it? HELL YES! please do it, becuase I want to find a once in a lifetime deal like this again.
your loss is my gain.

BTW: I didn't even pay 1/2 of what he did and it was still fricking new. still smelled new, (tires all had flat spots) and about an inch of dust on it

Michigan is EXTREMELY tough on drunk drivers

no, if ya read the post my insurance was still on my old truck. not only did i mean covearge, but the actual card, as well. when you buy a new vehicle your insurance will automatically cover it for a certain amount of time before you need to switch, at leats mine does. the insurance was valid, but when i sold my truck i had accidentally left the actual card in it, so thats what the cop had beef about. well that and the huge amounts of speeding.

*update* i officially have kicked my friend in the A$$ for it. he bought a carton of cigs yesterday, and when me another two guys were hanging out, i got into his car and burned the whole carton with his lighter....ha!

not to be a di@k or anything, but you and your friends sound pretty mature. Good to know that there are people out there driving 4000lb trucks around the highway at 100mph after spending the night drinking....

well you are sounding like one. if you read the post (hmm..deja vu) you will see that the person who i gave my truck to WASNT drinking. that was the whole reason i gave it to him. if he was drinking there was no way in hell id let him drive. but he actually is epileptic, so he cannot drink anyway. i may not be the most mature at times, but the whole reason all of this happend was that i was trying to be mature, and not drive drunk. duh.

listen, like i said i wasn't being a di@k, just stating some obvious facts....like this one; if your friend has some type of ailment or disease, why the hell would you post a picture of a challenged person, mocking their unfortunate problems.

and by the way, don't they have taxicabs where you live??? The mature thing would have to called for a cab to take all of you home. Just my .02....you posted it, so expect people to have their opinions (so don't get pissed when they respond)

but man, you should beat his *** for just not taking it easy (read; DRAWING ATTENTION!) and of all things to smoke and spill chit in someone elses new truck?

dont know one friend of mine, that would disrespect any of my cars in that way.

well ya live and learn, bright side is everyone got home unhurt.

Let me get this straight...an epileptic, non-drinker, chain-smoker behind the wheel of a 5000 lb. pickup at 100mph. There's a recipe for disaster...he is either a 'low grade' epileptic with very little to no chance of a fit or he's got a restricted license because of the potential of having a fit...hopefully it's the former or you might as well get hammered and drive around in your truck as you'll get the same result and you'll get the joy of trashing your new truck.

Ahh, it must be a different policy between companies. Before I drive my car out of a dealer lot, I have to call my insurance and have them add it, then they send me a card specifically for the vehicle later in the mail.

sorry, i didnt mean to sound mad. he is a low level epileptic, no restricted license or anything like that, just the medications he takes restricts him from drinking, something to do with his liver. and like i said about that picture it was just a joke, im never going to post anything besides truck related advice/questions due to the fact i dont want people gettin pissed off. it didnt bother me, but i should have thought it might others. btw i didnt call a cab, (man start reading the dang posts) because like i said the first time around i didnt want to leave my brand new truck in the parking lot. look this has gotten a little out of hand, just like my post w/ the picture. im just stickin to stuff i know wont be controversial. easier to respond and less time consuming. sorry to **** anyone off, i try not to be the controversial type.

DUI's suck *** man!!!!!!!!!!

I got my first one just a couple months ago, was driving home in my work car from a friends birthday party. cup pulled me over for speeding cause I was out in the moddle of nowhere and I had no clue where I was so I didn't know it went from a 45 down to a 35 right away so he snagged my ***. Well he asked me If I was drinking and I said a couple, which I had about 5 beers in about 6 hours and I haven't had one for the past 2 hours (and I'm 230 pounds). I felt totally fine and passed all his field test but he wasn't convinced so he still arrested me, pulled my into the station and made me blow and I did cause I thought there's no way I'm over and low and behold I blew a .087 which IL is .080 for the limit too so I was like bull*****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the cop was an *** and he's like gotcha and wrote me up for it. So now its just a court thing and luckily my lawyer is really good and they haven't had that machine calibrated in so long that the readings are invalid and even the evaluation lady was like there's no way you blew that with your weight and how much you drank with those time frames so pretty much its getting thrown out of court for improper paperwork on the cops part and the breath test also, but its a complete pain the butt cause its like 3 grand out of your pocket for somthing that never should have happened you know. I know I wasn't buzzed or drunk but its his word against yours and I agree its good to get really stupid drunk people off the roads but the cop's out there now arre just making money off this ***** hand over fist with court fee's and everything else and its making the towns look good nabbing all these people so you have to be really careful.

I'm telling you guys, if you haven't been pulled over for a DUI yet, its not a pretty site and its not fun with all the B.S. you have to go threw. If you blow over a .1 in my state your really screwed then and considered a class 2 and then its bend over and take it from behind. Just be careful guys cause the cops on the road arn't your friends and I know it sounds crazy but if you've had something to drink and you get pulled over, don't talk, don't blow, don't do ***** cause then they have nothing on you and its easier to fight the 6 month suspension with your lawyer then to deal with a breath test reading cause thats evidence. I got lucky cause my machine was about 2 weeks over its last scheduled calibration date so it was off big time.

ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY GUYS!! and only drunks and cops are on the road at 2 in the morning so of course there going to pull you over, its a lesson I had to learn the hard way and Its hurting now.

Refusing a BAC test is the same as failing one around here. Either way you lose your lic. for a year plus all sorts of fun in court.

Cops are my friends if they keep my enemies, drunk drivers, away. If your BAC was too high, then you were drinking too much. Don't blame the cop, he's doing his job. It's the state that sets the BAC level, and you were drunk in their eyes.
