Jack Points?

Is there any specific jack point on our trucks. I got a flat on the front drivers side on the way to my buddys shop earlier today. We left it there for a while and went out (cant let a flat ruin your sat night )then came back around 2:45 to fix it. It was dark and kinda hard to see but I tried to get the jack under there on the frame. At first I just put it on the frame right under where the bed and cab meet. There were some noises when I lifted it so I stopped. I moved the jack up to what seemed like a stiffer part of the frame, right before the frame slopes up behind the front wheels. This place wasnt too sturdy either but by that time it was 3 am and I wanted to get home. Is there any certain place to jack up the truck from the side?? In the back I do it on the pumpkin even though it says not to and in the front I just go on the cross member. But the sides....?

There is a reinforced jack point on the frame just before it starts up
in the front. Seems like htat is what you may have found. I know
that jacking the entire side WILL crunch and bend the frame.

Thanks Cliff.

Yea the second point I jacked was much more sturdy and it was a full box unlike the rest of the frame.

Definitely not the pumpkin

One of the worst places to use is the pumpkin! There are other alternatives why risk damage.

I believe your manual will indicate the proper place to jack the rear is by placing the jack under the axle between the U bolt and the shock mount. If you look at the picture above, right about where the lable on the axle is, is the proper place.

Another of my fans from Florida.

If you look to the right you can just see one of the jack stands that are holding up the rear end while we change the shocks. The jack was placed under the pumkin as an added safety while I worked under the truck. It was JUST holding the weight of the rear end. It wasnt jacked up using the pumpkin.

Thanks for your concern about my truck though.... LOL

Doug

There is a piece of metal welded onto the frame up front that fits the stock jack's seat perfectly. It is right under the front ground effect by the wheel. This is the jacking point ford designed it for.

This picture shows it in use. The yellow jackstand is on it.
