Update on rough engine idle fix.
Fast Gator:
You just had to tease me with that Moonshine picture again.
Your a cruel and heartless man...
I'm going to clear the PCM in the next hour. The plugs were replaced a few months ago (factory replacements, about at 23k miles)...the ones in there were the originals and looked
just fine...perhaps if I dropped the truck in a whole vat of your
moonshine it might fix this idle problem...
Gator-do you have about 10,000 gallons of Moon laying around anywhere?...if so, well fill the swiming pool up with that magical elixar and drive the truck right into it. Of course we must sample
the stuff first to make sure it's of the "correct" vintage.

Thats your problem! Get rid of those POS platinum plugs. Put some NKG's or Denso's. I run the Denso's, expensive, but its only money.
Besides TommyLightning has/did have a special on them

Just a thought... I have had trucks randomly misfiring at idle (watching missfire counters on the scantool), full tune up, no codes, no vacumn leak, correct fuel pressure ect... Hooked up the Motorvac machine, and after twenty minutes, the missfires were gone. Besides the fact that the injectors probably need cleaned, the actuall problem was debris in the fuel rail. Hope you find the problem, I would not be as calm as you in the same situation.
Haku:
What is a Motorvac machine?...thanks for the suggestions, you've
described the symtoms well...["watching missfire counters on the scantool", full tune up, no codes, no vacumn leak, correct fuel pressure ect]...
At this point I'm not allowing myself to get too upset since
I know the dealer has really "tried" to correct the problem.
As far as gas goes have always used Amoco premium and
get it from the same pump at the gas station.

Its a fuel injector cleaner machine, that also cleans the fuel rail. It hooks into your fuel lines, supply and return. Your lines from your tank are looped together, so fuel runs from your pump, right back to your tank. The machine "pulses" a fuel/cleaner mix through your fuel rail, cleaning it. The pulsing also agitates debris that may be on top of your injector screens, and it flows back to the machine where it is filtered. The machine is ran with vehicle off for 15-20 minutes, then the vehicle is started and ran for 30-60 minutes. It really is a great service. I do not know if your dealer has one of these, or a like machine. Dont know if its your problem, but worth a shot. I read a TSB awhile ago, describing this problem, cant remember what vehicle they were reffering too. It said that some "foriegn" material was in the fuel rail, from the plant, causing the same symptoms. You can read more on it at www.motorvac.com .. Your local GM dealer will more then likley have one, its the easiest way to fix a Vortec's funky fuel system.
