EGR blocked off.............

Well I finally got around to blocking my EGR yesterday. I made a blockoff plate for the upper intake from some stainless stock I had lying around. The lower blockoff I made from some fittings I found at Lowe's for about $4.00

So no more hot exhaust gasses getting into my upper intake and heating up the air entering the KB.

Here is a pic of the upper blockoff plate.

Oh...and the best part was.....no SES light!!!

Sorry I dont have pics of the lower....its hard to take a pic down there.

Huh, that looks like your line lock. Can't see the EGR in that photo.

ERIC,

Did you just cap off the vaccum line that went to the EGR valve?
Is that the stock adapter or phenolic material between the intake plenum and KB? Enquiring minds need to know.

Yep, I plugged the line going to the top of the EGR with a screw.

Speaking of which.....the two other rubber lines that come off of the EGR tube, just take one of them and make a continous loop from one port to the other on the EGR solenoid.

Ohh...that is the adapter that came with the KB.
I am looking into the phelonic spacer next

i believe the egr recycles exhaust gases to try to cut down on emissions and get a 2nd burn for better mileage

While your at it you should just remove those two sensors that controll the EGR now that you don't need them anymore. Then you can remove the bracket that holds them on......

Now that everything is out of the way...... notice how easy it will be to change those plug on the drivers side now ?

To block the lower I used a 3/4" F.H.T. to 3/4" F.I.T. brass coupling and a 3/4" pipe plug that I found at Lowe's over by the faucets and plumbing stuff.

I removed the EGR and took it into Lowe's with me to make sure I got the right parts.

As an aside, what kind of power increase would blocking of the egr give. The air from the exhaust should raise the intake temp quite a bit. By eliminating it I would imagine a noticeable performance increase. Has anybody measured the difference at the track or on a dyno?

When you made the upper did you put some gasket maker between the plate and the supercharger or was there a gasket already there?
