Exclamation Closed Lightning R hood post..???

Ok, Im not too proficient in this board, and havent been the most active of members, but i have noticed that if there IS a problem with a post that it is corrected before it even hits two pages...this one hit more than six, am I right? Uhh, at what point was it decided that it was against the f150online rules? Halfway through? hmm....I dont want to cause trouble, I LOVE this message board, but it just seems stupid sometimes that input asked from others all of a sudden becomes marketing, therefore the company in question must be a supporting vendor. the whole point of the post was too see if enough people were interested to see if they could actually afford doing it, let alone paying to be a vendor of a product that may or may not happen. Look, i am all for this board, and I know i dont regulate it, and i respect the webmaster and moderators to the UTMOST, but sometimes some things just seem kind of silly. Just my .02cents. Sorry if i pushed any wrong buttons, I like these boards alot.

I see where you're coming from here Shadow. Technically, according to the rules, Doug is right though. I guess we should just communicate with BMWBig6 through E-mail.

Sorry Doug (and everyone) - I didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest and I hope no real harm has been done. Doug is right, my post did violate the letter of the law even though my intentions were not to come here and sell my wares. I'll continue to coordinate communication between interested buyers and myself offline. Maybe we'll all be "winners" and I can get Keystone to become a supporting vendor of F150online too.

Doug, would it be acceptable for me to post a new thread in a few days to provide just a general update on Keystone's decision (yes or no to the hood) on the forum? You can even lock the thread as soon as I post if it makes a difference - I just don't want to leave people hanging and I don't think everyone includes their email address in their user profiles for me to contact them individually. I'll understand if you say no though.

I didnt see the post as a problem the first time I looked at it. By the time there were 5 pages of "I want ones" it became advertising. In order to be consistent after closing the similar post by Wendy - I closed that one.

Just keep in mind that we have vendors here all the time trying to sell here "under the radar". We try to be consistent.

Please dont expect us to be perfect and all knowing and all seeing - We just do the best we can.

BMWBig6 - What you are doing is essentially organizing a Group purchase. That should be done thru the GP forum and to steer clear of trouble you should send a heads up email to Steve as is suggested in the GP rules. There are ways to get done what you are trying to do.

Send me an email if you want more detail.

Doug
PS - I appreciate your level headed response to the post closing.

rules is rules....

yes, i understand. I guess i just thought it was weird that is was closed after it was 6plus pages, but that actually made it classify as advertising, which i neglected to see.

Silver-About the level headedness....I always try to be proffesional when possible...I notice when other people get mad they just curse alot, get kicked off the board, show their ignorance, and get nothing accomplished. I was just out to understand, not to vent or be mad, etc. Thanks for the response, I now know whats up

Supporting Vendor????

This hood is a concept, it does not exist!!

This is what this forum is about, helping Lightning Enthusiasts, PERIOD!!

I could understand if a member was attempting to sell his/her product w/o being a "Supporting Vendor", but a member that has a dream to develop a hood for the fellow L members is truly reflecting his love for the L, not the $$.

This forum, I would like to believe, is not ALL about dollars and cents.

BTW, if the hood is developed, I would insist on Keystone becoming a "Supporting Vendor" to even breathe on this forum.

Before we all get over-excited , I should mention that Steve has been kind enough to grant us the ability to continue discussing this project in the "Group Purchases" forum here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=129850

I think if you had already subscribed to the "old" thread, you will still be notified if someone posts on the new thead. You may want to verify your subscription in your preferences section at the top of your page, or re-subscribe for good measure if you want to stay in the loop. We won't get as much visibility on the GP forum, but at least we can still use this online medium to share notes about the hood project. Good enough for me! Thanks Doug/Steve!

Being the biggest forum for Lightnings we OFTEN get people who "just want to guage interest" on a new product. It happens at least once a week. The site and the bandwidth is NOT free and the rules are in place to keep businesses from taking advantage of Steves bandwidth while they collect the email addresses of customers they will sell to off line.

Steve has said it MANY times - He is not all about the $$.
BUT he insists that people GIVE BACK if they TAKE from the site.
He has to come up with the approx $2k a month the site costs from somewhere.
There are MANY ways to give back. For example - I could likley get away with overt marketing of the decals I sell on my site without pissing off Steve because I donate my time to the site.

I agree 100%, most, if not all, of my mods are from supporting vendors (excluding my tuner). I think I contribute to the support of this forum, by soley buying from the "Supporting Vendors" of F150online.
