who runs a 2lb upper and 4lb lower??

im installing the 4lb lower pulley this weekend..but i was talking with a fellow ligtning owner and friend..and he said i may be pushing it with 14psi...i have a 2000 model..and he did explain to me the rods are a little better in the 99' 00' models..ive never heard so before..anybody know of this being true?? i was really looking forward to this setup but i dont want to run into problems...im going to be tuning my diablo chip on a real conservative tune..and i got the NGK tr6's going in allong with the 170 degree thermo..i was just wondering if anyone runs the 2lb upper and 4lb lower pulley setup on thier truck..and what other mods do you have done to allow 14psi..i also have a volant cold air intake, and a shift kit...any advice would be great...thanks

Rob has the setup you are talking about 2 up 4 low and hes juicing too. this is all on a stock block. The word is that 99-00 rods are better but how much is what matters

Thanks Racer,
Yep, it's true, I'm Rob

2Lb Upper (Quick Change), 4Lb Lower, JLP Cool Air Induction, Accu-Fab Billet Single Blade Throttle Body, Multi Spark Box,
and Zex 55 - 75 HP Wet Nitrous.
(Slicks/Bars/+Drive Shaft Loop of course too)

Mine's an 2002, and I drive it hard, best ET to date is (2) 12.0's
and that was done using only the 4lb Lower and 65 HP of Juice.
I hope to change that in a mere few hours, I'm leaving for
English Town in less than a 1/2 hour this morning
Today I'm growing big ***** and running 6lbs + 75 HP of Juice

6lb these days is considered safe enough with a good tune,
All the Tuners have awesome fast safe programs for that combo,
and you'll be able to run consistant 12's, (I run 12.7 no juice)

I ran a 1# upper with a 4# lower. Now I run a 1/6 combo to make up for the lost boost with the full meal deal exhaust.

Your the man ROB! Good luck today! I run a 4# lower and a 2.80 upper. It isnt 2# upper, its a little less than that. So I'm making a little less boost than stock upper and a 6# lower. But I'm reading 15#'s on the boost gauge... As long as you have the right tune, you should be fine running a 4# lower and a 2# upper, or just a 6# lower is commmon around here. Good luck, Shane

thats what I run with my truck and I have no problem running off low low 12's all day without the juice.

Main thing is you got to keep that blower cold so a supercooler is the ticket to fast E.T.'s when your spinning the blower that fast.

FooFur,

A gatorback 4080660 (66" belt) will fix that squeel between shifts.

How much Boost do you get with a 4lb lower/2lb upper ? Since boost is reflected by impellar speed, you should see more than 6lbs. The 2lb pulley is rated at 2lbs on a stock pulley, when you add a larger lower pulley you should see even more boost. Example would be if you put a 6lb lower on a Harley you see only 4.5-5lbs extra boost. If the rate is the same that means the 4lb upper/2lb lower is going to give you 7-8lbs extra boost. Does anybody have a Boost Gauge to give us numbers on the combos ?

boost doesn't mean ****! You have to see how many CFM your flowing to determine what kind of improvements your making.

Don't forget about injectors. I had a fuel engineer run my numbers in a formula and told me my injectors are runing 98% of duty cycle. I have a 4lb lower with a 2 lb upper and port and polished heads and 1 mm over size valves.
