Phenolic spacer.

I just broke mine out with the intension of putting it on finally. Did any of you guys think to gasket match the spacer with a dremel before installing it? Mine was too small by nearly 1/4 inch at one end. It is now perfect. It's easy to do really, just not something everyone thinks of.

I don't think a 1/4 inch will matter....but they do make pumps and such if you have a complex!!!!!

Odin's wrath, not trying to start a flame war or tuner bashing but, who's phenolic spacer did you buy? I was wondering if I needed to do that also, since I just ordered one, and am waiting for it in the mail.

Very funny. Haha. I've actually been thinking of a reduction. My girlfriend is starting to look like this---> all the time.

Seriously though, 1/4 of an inch all around one side and corner is quite a bit of material. Every little bit helps. Right?

It's not a big deal really. It only took a few minutes to match it up. I'd check it out no matter where you get it from. Couldn't hurt.

I am a bit confused here. The gaskets that came with my spacer were Ford part number gaskets and where the exact gaskets that Ford uses on my existing plenum. How could they be off unless you got a bad set from Ford.

I bought my spacer from JDM at the FFW Ennis event as a way of showing appreciation for the tent he provided for us.
It took me all of 30 minutes to install and the kit fit perfect. Guess I got lucky????...LOL. Naw...I think someone is being ****...J/K.

Where your gaskets not the Ford gaskets?

Not the gaskets, the spacer was off. I matched it to the gaskets. Sorry to be inspecific.

I think he meant the spacer was smaller than the gaskets, so he enlarged it to the exact same size as the gasket, which could make a difference in the flow.

edit....dohhh he beat me to it.

Oh Shiot.....I see what your saying now!!!! I wish to heck I had of looked at this before I installed it.

So with the spacer protruding inside the plenum...the air is not flowing as smoothly. Great idea...it may be a minimal issue but at a certain level of mods, every little bit helps.

I'll probably be pulling mine to check this down the road. Thanks for the tip.

That's good news. I guess the ones that are made by the "knock off" "me too" guys are the ones needing extra work.

I plan to go with the works 140 in the next couple months anyway...so I believe I'll just take your advise.

Thanks,

Rocks

Yeah. If mine was already on the truck I probably wouldn't pull it off just to check. I would put it on a list of things to do providing I pulled the plenum for something else, or just got bored. Mine looked good until I put the bolts through it. That's when things were off.

Mine's not one of the "me too" pieces. It doesn't matter where a part comes from, they're not all going to be perfect. It pays to check. There's no malice involved in this post. Just trying to be helpful.

I was just making an attempt at humor. I was bored and thought I'd poke a stick at the tuner cage...LOL.
