Hail Damage

Went to the dealer today to check out the L's again. They have a 03 black L on the lot that has hail damage from a strom a few months ago. You can't see the damage just by looking at the truck, you have to look at it from a angle so you can see it from the sunlight reflecting off of it. Anyways, the salesman said that they are selling it for 29.9K including a $502 hail check. If I wanted them to fix it they will take off the $502 and the price will be around 30.4K.

What do you guys think? Is it something to look into or get a different one?

I've had a truck that had hail damage. If I were you I would keep looking or you'll be seeing ripples in the panels years down the road. It's about impossible to get rid of this type of damage completely. $500 wouldn't begin to paint a truck with hail damage.

Definitely keep looking. It will drive you crazy for every little dimple that you will eventually see. There are better deals to be had for Lightnings with no damage. Ask for X plan price and somebody on here will probably be able to help you get a pin number for X plan. Good luck.

Pass it by! Unless BOTH price of truck goes down and hail damage $ goes up. '03 L's undamaged can be found for better prices then that AND you don't have to have the factory paint job fiddled with.

Big Man, you must have had a relapse?

Thought you'd worked all all the issues from previous thread? Guess not? Since 04's are out 03's worth considerable less than xplan--without hail damage! What happened to Dean Stallings Ford giving you xplan price+ no doc fees? Gave you 2 sources for xplan pin: Ford investor relations and Variety Club charity. No offense intended, but either you are just fooling around about buying a L or are incredibly hardheaded and stubborn about everyone's efforts to help you? I'm not wasting any more time!

I just bought mine on X plan...came to $30,200 with both options (bedliner and tonneau cover)
Without the options the X plan was $29,900....if that helps anyone

You should be able to do better than $29.9! I bought my "leftover" 02 in May of this year with hail damage for $27k + change. No X-plan either.

The hood was peppered with damage (since it's aluminum), but only 2 (barely) noticable dents otherwise.

I went the route of buying a new hood instead of getting paintless dent removal. It was actually cheaper getting the new hood including paint ($600). I was lucky that the color match turned out great.

If it is just the hood that is damaged, you might want to check around for someone that still has their factory hood after getting a new hood.

Looking back, I probably should have just had the dealer pull the dents for $800 to avoid the hassle I went through with getting recommendations on a good body shop and getting the hood at the best price.

I have been keeping contact with Dean Stallings and I have sent a e-mail to Fords investor relations saying what you told me to. I have not got a e-mail back yet. As for Variety Club, I would donate but it seems like they only take credit cards and I don't have one.

I am not fooling around and not hardheaded(I am not taking offense BTW, my parents call me that all the time). I really do want a L. I test drove one the other day and I be damned if that power it had didn't almost scare the ***** out of me. I have been looking around some more and I just found that L and wanted to know what some people would think, thats it.

I am still trying to sell my car and if I do it right, I could do it fast since there is no one around here with a Mazda 6s(or I haven't seen one). My work has almost 600 people there so Im starting there.

I really like to thank everybody thats helped me and I am trying to do it right.

Big Man, ok maybe you are trying to do things

right? I wouldn't buy hail damaged as I said before. Thought you realized you had to get a credit card? Followup with Ford investor relations. If you have income adequate to buy truck, you should be able to get a credit card in 1 day. Then you can make Variety Club contribution and get xplan. Good luck with selling your car,but why advertise to 600 (employees) only when you should advertise regionally and reach many thousands. Nothing wrong with doing both. FWIW, nobody knows you as well as your parents, but both they and myself came to same conclusion about being hardheaded! I don't know you at all! Maybe you should do a gut check regarding your attitude? Good Luck!

I would laugh at them, they should be desperate to unload an '03 right now since '04 is right around the corner...plus its damaged... If you really want it I would tell them to fix it and you pay 28.5k or forget it, if they are smart they will take it..
