Break in procedure???

So I'm about ready to start my fully rebuilt engine that I spent the last few bloody knuckle months building and installing. I just realized I have no idea what the initial start up and break in procedures for a new mod motor are. Can anyone help?

For example on big block chevys you prime the oil pump first through the distributor hole and then run at a constant rpm for several minutes to break in a new cam. Is there anything similar for a mod motor?

Break in

Oil to the cams is critical un plug the coils and turn the engine over til the oil light goes out then hook up the coils and drive it like you stole it

Well that sounds easy enough. Is that really all there is to it? Any other people have advice?

I guess if I wanted a lot of responses on a built engine subject I should have asked "How do you write a check" .

lmao

Break it in at the racetrack, then change your oil and cut open the filter to check for babbit from the bearings. Seal it all back up and you're good to go.

break-in

Well you do need to prine the oil system as above but after you start it vary the RPM's some until the engine warms up then if you have time I like to shut it off and let it set for about an hour or so to let the rings and gaskets heat soak and set (usually by the tine you check over every thing clamps fluid levels leaks etc) then take it out and drive it varying the gas some accl and some decel to fully seat the rings and bearings then change the oil about 1K miles. Also do Not use synthetic oil until after about your second oil change or until the engine oil use levals out synt. oil can cause your rings not to seat if used at the start
